Do you give money to homeless people?
You pull up to a red light and there is a rough looking man standing there with a cardboard sign. Do you give him money? If yes, under what circumstances? If his sign says something in particular? If he has a dog/child with him?
Re: Do you give money to homeless people?
I don't either.. I feel guilty but it's hard to decide who is real and who isn't. I often have a snack or bag of cheese-its in my car and sometimes I'll hand that to them. Id much rather hand out a bag of chips than cash.
Also, I never have cash.. so maybe that's a factor as well. Haha but still.. I don't trust handing out cash.
Nope. And I don't feel guilty about it either. If a person really needs money and/or help, they aren't standing on a street corner.
I don't. It really creeps me out to roll down my window and someone walk up to it. I feel like I'm way too exposed. Maybe I'm just too paranoid. And like someone else mentioned I never have any cash on me.
Confession:
I never put money in the Salvation Army bucket during the holidays either. We give to our selected charities, but I feel like I'm judged everytime I walk by and not leave any money while everyone else is doing it.
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
I'm pretty sure I saw a regular poster from this board post on facebook last year about judging people for not donating to the salvation army buckets (she had been raised to put money into it EVERY time she passed one and any decent person should do the same). No thanks. Not giving to that particular charity does not make me selfish or greedy. It just means that I planned ahead and donated to charities that I believe in without relying on guilt-solicitation.
I've only put money into the salvation army buckets maybe a handful of times--again, I rarely have cash and I'd rather us make our planned donations to our charities of choice rather than donating because I feel like I have to or because I'll feel guilty if I don't.
Me too.
That's because most of the time it is.
I see these dreadlocked hippies from time to time at Classen and NW Expressway. The sign says they're students and out of luck. Uh, no. Not getting my money. There are quite a few people along NW Expressway these days and either they are hard-core meth addicts or people who look like they are eating pretty regularly. I do not feel bad for ignoring them.
