Parental rights?

I posted this on another site but havent gotten many hits, so I'll try my luck on here....

Have you or your spouse ever given up all parental rights to a custodial parent and completely had to cut yourself out that childs life? If so how did you deal with the emotions or how did you support your spouse during this time?

Re: Parental rights?

  • I don't have any experience with this but can imagine that it's tough. Going to a counselor could help, and I'm sure there's a support group that could put you in touch with other people going through the same thing. Best of luck.

  • I am sorry to hear you are going through this. Without more detail its hard to know what to say to encourage you.

Personally no I havn't, but I have worked in the foster/adoption setting and have custody of my nephew and would love to encourage you if I can, I know it can be really hard to deal with some of the emotions/peoples choices and feeling isolated. If you feel comfortable PM me more of your story and I'll share anything I think may encourage you that I know.

  • Thanks tooth i'll shoot you a PM
