I've already gained my Newlywed Nine
DH works nights and DS goes to bed around 9ish. Obviously, I can't leave at night. When dividing up household chores, DH said that he loves grocery shopping!! I was thrilled to pass that chore off, but DH buys loads of junky food. I find myself snacking a TON at night. I'm already putting all the Little Debbie Cakes in a tupperware container with healthier options on top. That's helping - I'm down 1# in the last 2 weeks. At least it's in the loss column.
Anyone else noticing weight gain?
What's your best tip for shedding?
Re: Newlywed Nine
I gained a few lbs but I already taking it back off... I am a lifetime member of Weight Watchers after loosing over 80lbs. If I go off the plan at all I gain weight really quickly but it is usually easy to get it back off. My best tips are eating more fruit and veggies and staying active. I do silly workout videos when the kiddos have gone down for the night and they help me stay a bit more active. When I feel like snacking I go do one and then I either feel like I earned my snack or that I just dont want it becuase I did all that work haha
My Planning Bio - Update 8/5/12
I agree with Mrs Mercy's advice. When I graduated college and moved out on my own, I ate a lot of take out and alot of wine and cheese (every weekend!), lots of pasta because it was cheap etc. I gained 35 lbs without noticiing (I wear leggings or tights with dresses a lot to work!.) I should have kept trying on my jeans because i would have known they were too tight and started to cut back.
Since moving in with my huisband 2 years ago i put on another 10 lbs but I have been able to maintain my weight. I lost a few pounds around the wedding and I am trying to keep itoff. My goal is to lose another 10 before thanksgiving weekend for my 10 year high school reunion.
I've definitely gained a few pounds since the wedding... though I went to the doctor last week (and was, thus, weighed) and I didn't gain as much as I thought.
After the wedding I was definitely letting myself eat whatever I wanted, but I've been trying to curtail that over the past week or two. I'm still indulging pretty often, however. But I've also started training for my half marathon in November, so I'm getting quite a bit of exercise in,too.

I would definitely try some workout videos in those evenings after your son goes down for the night!
If your H can't curtail his junk-food buying habit (after you ask him to, that is) then I would trade him another chore for the groceries. My H is the same way, and now I do most of the shopping - he doesn't even miss the junk! All the junk we allow ourselves is *one* box of Little Debbies, and they're always hidden behind the fruit, so it takes us forever to get through them (out of sight, out of mind)
When I want a snack at night, I always start with a glass of water. Usually that helps the craving pass - it's a *craving* not real hunger. I also have a food cut-off of 9pm.
I haven't had any problems with gaining so far. I hope my tips can help!!I think I have gained a little weight, but that is partially due to stress. Since our wedding our best friends have decided to end the friendship, one of my uncles passed away, DH's Dad had surgery, DH's grandpa was hospitalized, and my Godfather/uncle is now dying (to the point where my Mom and her siblings are trying to get out there to say goodbye)... Other smaller things have been happening as well, so it has been a stressful time for us!
I'm trying to drink more water and eat healthier, but with the stress I've been eating lots of "comfort foods" which is causing the gain. I need to kick my butt into gear and get back into a workout schedule, anyone interested in doing another one of those accountability days? Even if we aren't working on a deadline just to keep the motivation going?
