I am very petite to begin with (5 feet tall and basically kid sized) and I wear an XS in just about everything. I am 4 months along now and the bump is starting to pop out. I am still in my regular summer pants/work pants with the help of a B Band or a hair tie. I am also still wearing my regular tops, although anything that buttons down is sort of out of the question now. I know this isn't going to last much longer. I already bought 2 pairs of jeans for the fall in a size up from my normal size. I don't want to spend a ton on clothes that I don't know when or if I will wear again. Any suggestions? Should I just continue to wear what I have and when it looks silly/no longer fits, just go out and buy some pieces? Any absolute must have pieces I should buy?
Re: Maternity Clothes
Thanks ladies! I think I will just take it a week at a time and buy things as I need them. I work in a law office. They wear suits almost all the time. I usually wear slacks and a nice top, since my desk is directly below the HVAC vent and it is always subzero in here.
I was thinking about leggings and I ordered a pair of yoga pants from ON this weekend, along with the Rock Star jeans (I tried on a size up and I had some room in them now, so I figured if I get a few months out of them, its well worth the 40 bucks). I was looking at maternity clothes, and they all look so big and expensive!
I definelty will need a winter coat. I was thinking about a North Face one anyway before I got KU. I don't think my fitted pea coats are going to cut it this year.

I only bought 3 pairs of maternity pants for work and rotated them with 2 maternity skirts I got on clearance at Motherhood.
For shirts, I bought mostly solid colors (sleeveless and short-sleeved) that I could wear under the zillion non-maternity cardigans I own. I tried to buy stuff that would be as versatile as possible so that I could get multiple seasons out of everything. I did buy one or two dressier tops that I wore for holidays or out to nice dinners.
Ditto JRM.
I got by with a bella band and hair tie for my pants until my 3rd tri. Most of my tops fit too. I didn't want to spend a lot on clothes so I bought some tops at ON, especially longer tank tops that I could wear under cardigans for work.
Can you borrow any from friends? Also, hit up some thrift stores for cheap clothes.

i bought one pair of maternity jeans and one skirt. but i was also staying at home by the time i was really showing.
i will say i stretched out a lot of my tshirts and underwear by wearing them through pregnancy even though they "fit"
I have way too many maternity clothes but I basically stalked the target sale racks--both regular and maternity clothes--and bought stuff as I found good prices because for how long you wear the clothes, the quality of Target's line was fine with me. I also checked out consignment stores every once in awhile, especially if I needed something specific like a winter coat.
As pp said, Id be careful about buying too much too soon as you never know how it will fit as your body changes. For instance, I carried DD pretty high (I could never breath!!) so the demi panel pants were super comfy and I had about 5 pairs of them stowed away in a tote of maternity clothes "for next time". This time I am carrying super low and those pants have been supremely uncomfortable from the beginning and I had to buy a few pairs of the full panel pants instead.
