Moving to Phoenix

So, don't really know if this is the right board to post this on (I've spent most of my time previously on Bump Boards), but this seemed the best fit.

Anyway, on to the important stuff. My fiance and I have accepted an offer to sell his house in the next 2 months and are planning to move to Phoenix, AZ from Ashland, KY. He's originally from AZ, lived in Phoenix before moving to this area in 1999. But, he's a boy, so no matter how much I poke and prod, he can't think of important things I should know about 1) moving 2000 miles across country and 2) what to expect living in Phoenix. We visited for a week and a half earlier this year so I could see if I liked it (obviously I did), but I'm sure there's a LOT more to know.

Any advice? Tips/tricks? TIA!

Re: Moving to Phoenix

  • you could also try posting this on one of the local boards over there, might get some more helpful responses.

  • My grandma has lived in Tempe then Mesa since my Dad was a teenager, so we have visited over the years. There seems to be 2 distinct groups of people that you see the most in Pheonix itself...old people and university kids. Any time I have visited I have never seen many young families/teenagers, and most of the fun things to do for families seem to be more outside of town (the ghost town, the zoo in tucson). But other then that all I can say is I have always loved visiting, don't think I would want to move there, but make sure you have AC and don't expect to do much outdoors in the summer! Its stinking hot!
  • Good idea. Thanks.
