So I guess I'll try and keep the board alive a bit longer even if its just a few posting in a week but I think there is a good amount lurking in the shadows.
Any who, I'm hoping this weekend we can take in some of ArtPrize. Maybe I'll wonder around myself on lunch tomorrow. The short list was announced last night. I'll have to check to see if any are close to the office .Anyone been out and have what they think is a must see.
We are getting more settled in at my parents. Our bedroom is getting a bit better and doesn't smell as much like basement. Amazing how you don't notice those things as a teenager. My Dad has the garage organized again and soon should be able to fit 2 cars in it again. The non-bedroom part of the basement is stuffed to the gills of boxes of stuff from everyone. This past weekend I enjoyed the joys of having an oven again and made a bunch of goodies.
I've also been enjoying cable tv again. All 5 channels that I want to watch. It sort of like torture watching the HGTV but only sometimes.
What about you anything to chime in about. Even if its boring I'll take it. I miss my girls.
Re: Trying to keep it going.
Not really "new" but proabably haven't been over here in a year. I think all of you were here then, so maybe you remember (?). From GR, live in Philly now, so I don't really have much local stuff to contribute. Wish I was there to go to Art Prize.

Not much exciting here. Hannah is getting over a cold so we have been laying low. Hopefully tomorrow she will be well enough to venture out. We have a trip to the Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Preserve in Alto planned with some friends. I'm looking forward to that.
I have to pick her up from the ferry in Muskegon around 4pm. She is going to stay till Saturday afternoon so I am trying to plan some fun for us on Friday with Hannah. Hopefully we will venture to ArtPrize.
Thursday morning we are having the ducts cleaned in the house. I know it has never been done in the house's 10years of life and the past owners had pets and I want to make sure it is clean before we turn the heat on this year. Then Thursday afternoon my mom is coming to visit!!
Saturday, the DH and I have a sitter in the evening so if the weather cooperates we might visit Craig's Cruisers after dinner for some fun! Sunday I have a Tastefully Simple booth at a church's Fall Festival.
Busy days ahead!
Hey! How is everyone?
I'm starting to not dig it so much. I haven't had an interview since May...MAY! Something has got to give. We've even started talking about living apart again and me trying to find something closer to home. It's just been mentioned once or twice but I think the fact that we're even talking about it is saying something, you know?
We have a dog now. She's a rat terrier/yorkie mix named sassy. 6 years old. Sweet but her previous owners did not train her well. It's going to be a helluva time breaking her from jumping on the couch. It's not going well so far.
ArtPrize maybe...Is buying the guide really necessary?
I sent you an email :-)
waves at TW.
BnG: Is sassy a barker? Our neighbors have a yorkie / jack russel terrier mix and she barks at everything all the time it seems.
I don't think buying a guide is necessary for ArtPrize. I never had and made it around just find. You might want to jump over the the website and take a gander before you head out though.
Goodness yes Sassy is a barker... Mostly during the day though. we close the windows and turn on the fan at night to minimize her talking. She does not like it when people use the stairs...yeah.
Thanks for the ArtPrize tip. We'll wander around one of these days.
BnG - good luck with the "new" dog. It is hard to break old habbits but she will get there in time. It is probably good that you are home with her to work on training and not barking. Do lots of research online about good training methods to curb bad habits. Or maybe you can find a doggie training class to take with her.
I hope that you are able to figure things out on the job front, without having to move. That must be so tough.
We are thinking about getting a dog - someone is selling golden retriever pups. I really really really want a dog. And then I remember the hair, the wet dog smell, the big poop, the food costs for a larger breed dog...Of course the "bads" always stand out but they are just so cute - and I think it can be theraputic to have a pet that is a good companion (so NOT the description of our cat).
The real question is am I up to training a new puppy or will I loose my mind. Our old dog was 6 months old when we got him and Matt did all the "work" at first. Haha!
Good to know that the ArtPrize Guide isn't needed. grkids.com has a list of suggested things to see when you have kids with you so I think we may try and follow that list if we make it there Friday.
My parents have a golden (at one time it was two). I'm such a sucker for them, they are wonderful dogs. However, the hair is no joke! Maybe you can rescue one that is already potty trained? There is a golden retriever specific rescue here in PA; maybe there is one closer to MI.
I love goldens... sigh.. someday. OR, when you get one, you can post pictures and I can live through you

I would love to have a dog again. All the breeds I want shed though and I don't want to have to deal with dog hair every place, mine is bad enough!
My cats shed which is enough for me. It's like they shed all the time not just when summer starts or winter starts. It's all the time. I don' think I could handle a dog.
I did some ArtPrize yesterday with my mom. We barely made a dent. If you register to vote, you can have a map for free. I've never used more than that. It doesn't matter how much of a plan I have in place when I head to AP, I always just end up wandering & trying to navigate around the crowds. I don't think I saw the majority of what ended up the top 10 this year. I don't expect I'll be able to get back there either, so oh well.
We're petless for a while, but I know DH wants a terrier of some kind (westie is the top of the list) eventually. I'm just not willing to do that until there's a yard. If we're going to deal with the "tied down" of having to crate, kennel, or travel with a dog every time we go anywhere, then I'd rather just be tied down by finally having kids. My cat was plenty and until the end, when she was sick, she took care of herself for the most part.
I don't really want to go back to work tomorrow. Still, I am thankful we both have jobs in our fields. That's so much more than many can say.
