Did anyone watch? What did you think? I thought there was way too much going on from Robin marrying Barney to rubbing her other BF's abs to Marshall and Lilly needing to sleep to Ted making Victoria write a note to her fiance and then he not wanting to get married either. I also got a little pissed at the end when it panned to the mother but it didn't show her face.
Re: HIMYM 9/24 Spoilers
If I hadn't watched it from the beginning, I would have given up on this show. You can never rely on anything and it's starting to really bother me. They show Robin and Barney getting married and then they say well maybe they don't. Then you think you're going to see the mother but you just see the umbrella WHICH NOBODY HOLDS that way.
I don't want another season of rolling my eyes after watching the first five minutes only to find out that what they said is going to happen doesn't. I hope this is the last season.
interesting. i was unaware that anyone expected them to reveal the mother in the season premier. what sense would that make?
i have a feeling they are going to tell this entire season much like last night's episode-where he is working up to introducing the mom but the episode is all flashbacks. i have a feeling we won't see the mom until the end of the season, IF then.
really, you expected them to suddenly show the mom? they've been doing this for seasons. we KNOW the mom is holding a yellow umbrella when he meets her. just as they were showing her walking i said to DH "are they forgetting about the umbrella part?" so when they panned back to show that she was holding it it was really just consistent with what we already know.
it seemed like any other episode to me. their flashback episodes tend to have a lot going on. i thought it was pretty good.
Of course I didn't expect to legitimately meet the mother but I think there would have been suspense if we would have at least seen a smile or something. My main issue was the bolded above. We're left with what we're always left with. The mother plays the bass and has a yellow umbrella. Big whoop. I could have watched previous episodes and gotten just as much out of it. They are continuing to re-visit the same storylines with all of the characters except for Lily and Marshall. I feel like after so many years of dedication by their fans, they owed us maybe even just the chin or something. I know I'm not the only "semi-bitter" HIMYM fan on the board unless they all left me and went to ProBoards!
Okay, vent over. Aside from that, I am actually excited to see where the season goes.
It would make sense so that we could see her interaction with the group, how they all get along, what they all think of her, how the relationship with Ted grows.
I knew they wouldn't suddenly show the mom but I was kind of hoping they would. As a PP stated, we know she has a yellow umbrella and plays bass...I was hoping for a little more of who she was.
I don't think it will show the mother until the end... The show is how I MET her.. not how we fell in love, how we planned a wedding, how she became friends with my friends...
I truly think they are going to drag this season out to cover the break up of Barney and Quinn.. Robin and Abs, Ted and Victoria THEN get back to the day of the wedding and lead up to why Ted is at the train station.. then BAM the mother!
Curious-- He meets her at the wedding right? So when she shows up at the train station have they already met... or does he meet her the day of the wedding??
I thought the same thing, that he met her at the wedding. So does that mean he just casually met her at the wedding and then when he sees her at the train station with the umbrella, that gives him the opportunity to speak with her more and have a connection with her ? I suppose we shall wait and see.
I also want to say again that the writers did give us more clues about her. Yes we know she has a yellow umbrella and plays the bass, but why did she bring it to the wedding ? Was she in the band ? Is she related to or friends with Barney or Robin and wanted to play a special song for them ? Uhhhh more questions.
