Meeting the neighbors - open house

We are recently married, but have lived in our "new" neighborhood a year.  Unfortunately, we haven't met anyone on our block except our neighbors.  We would like to host an open house and invite the entire block (about 16 homes).  Any ideas??

  • I would say keep it simple--lots of little appetizers and drinks.  You can make a lot of things ahead of time so you can spend more time with your guests and less time making food.  Definitely label what each item is so people will know what they're eating.  Have some things that don't have meat for people who don't eat it.  Have some things kids would like because people might bring their kids.  Have a drink station where people can serve themselves so you can enjoy yourself.  Make sure to have ice so things stay cold.  Some people like warm drinks, so maybe make a pot of coffee.  I would make goody bags for people to take home--leave it by the door in a basket.  People like those:-)  And have some chairs around so people stick around and socialize.
