Secrets Capri/ ruin tours help needed

So, in conjunction with DH's birthday cruise to Mayan Ruins in Belize, Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel next May, I am thinking of booking Riviera Maya to continue the expedition to Tulum and Chitchen Itza.  Secrets Capri came back with some great rates.  Questions though:

1.  Any category better then the other?

2.  Where can I find information on the companies that book tours to Tulum and Chitchen Itza at Secrets?  Anyone have pricing by chance?

 TIA ....

Re: Secrets Capri/ ruin tours help needed

  • which cruise line? is this just a regular cruise that you'll be stopping and taking the ruins excursions?

you can get to chichen itza and tulum via costa maya and cozumel stops on the ship. but there are also ruin sites on cozumel.

i've done a ton of ruin tours in mexico. tulum was my least fave. coba and ek balam were far less crowded and much larger sites. it's a shame you can't climb the main pyramid in CI anymore-that stopped abotu 4 weeks after Dh and I did that in 2005.

have you been to RM before?

Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:

  • We will be on the Carnival Dream but pricing the excursions to Tulum, Chichten Itza, etc. was very costly hence I am going to book a trip to RM for later in the year.

Never been to RM before so any guidance would be great.

which one went where? from cozumel you have to take a ferry and bus to tulum or chichen itza, from the costa maya CI is also far. what did the trips include? what was the price if you dont mind? did they include a guide? stops anyplace else? i'd expect to pay at least 100 a person for both. probably more. how long did you have at each? especailly the one from cozumel-that ferry and bus will take a good chunk of your time. if your DH wants to visit ruins still he can see the ones in cozumel. they're real.

as for later in the year-dh and i are always there in december (early-first 2 weeks) btu this year see siggy :).  december's weather is great and early dec is pretty empty. i wont ever try to talk you out of booking a trip to RM. we love it there.

  • We've only stayed in a standard category room at Secrets Capri and found it to be fine. The room was beautiful and new looking, and we found for ourselves an upgrade would have been a waste.
