For me, they're like potato chips...can't have just one!! LOL. just kidding.
No, seriously. There's my best friend from High School, best friend from College #1, best friend from College #2, and a girl I became very close to after college. They are all best friends to me! I love them equally. ![]()
But sometimes they get a little competitive, which I think is so silly. ESPECIALLY during my wedding, geez! It was a little ridiculous. Luckily there is no lingering weirdness and they all get along. I just sometimes feel like a floosey when I use the term "Best Friend" with each of them...like I'm cheating on the other ones or something. ha. The bond with each one is completely different and special though, so I truly do mean it with all of them.
So...how many "best friends" do you have?
Re: How many "Best Friends" do you have?
4. One from nursery school, two from elementary and one from jr. high. And we're all relatively close as a group.
Then I got old and realized I don't like people so I stopped collecting them
2. One from when I first moved to the east coast at 16 and another from when I was 11. I am hoping to make a new best friend from a mommy group and the PTO for my sons school lol
I just have 1... DH introduced me to her while we were dating because their families grew up together. It's freaky because we have soooo much in common. We are even the same height/weight and size (even shoe size!). But she is the best friend I've ever had (besides DH of course)
.
2. One is more just because we grew up together (her mom has pictures holding me when she was still pregnant with her...she is 1 month younger then me) We are not particularlily close, but we are bff's and will be forever and can pick up and do stuff anytime
the other is my best friend from highschool and shes really my go-to girl for advice, talks about life, fashion etc.

Hmm...What qualifies someone as a best friend?
I have one best friend and has been so since high school.
I still communicate with my best friends when I was little but we drifted apart for various reasons, none of them being bad reasons. We sadly are no longer close in any way, just friendly.
I do have 2 people that I consider extremely close friends. So depending on the definition I may have 3 best friends.
To me, a best friend is someone who knows all sides of you... the good and also the bad. You can go to them at your worst, and they will already know the whole back story, and can find the right words to either set you straight or comfort you. Time can pass, but it feels like you can pick up right where you left off, even if it's been a while. I think a best friend is just someone you know you can count on and trust completely. For me, it takes several years to get to this place with someone. I've had friends come and go, but there is no doubt in my mind that these girls are there for good.
By that definition I have 3 girl best friends and 4 guy best friends (plus my H of course).
Sadly I have none. My BFF dumped me a little while ago, so for the first time in my life I don't have a BFF. I guess I was one of the lucky ones who always had a BFF and sometimes 2 or 3. I do miss not have a BFF (I guess it isn't forever lol), but I do have a lot of other friends which makes me feel lucky like family, neighbor friends, co-worker friends, high school and college friends, and I am hopefully making some mom friends etc.
ETA: I guess I do have a best friend by your criteria, but its really that they are just great people rather than a closeness thing, so I don't consider them a best friend nor do they consider me one. I guess my definition is someone that I see and talk to on the phone fairly often as a closeness factor.
I have four.
My H and three girl BFFs that were friends in HS. I met them in college and they welcomed me to their group.
