Small Vent/ Milo Update

I posted about LA vs. SF a week or two ago- But the saga continues!

So the job in LA is really promising- H is flying out next week for an interview. Neither of us are particularly crazy about the idea of living in LA, but we're also certainly not opposed to trying it, especially if the job is good for H.

The job in SF is on again/ off again- Just the formal offer is coming very slowly. A large ad agency is in the process of setting up this SF branch, mainly to handle work from Google. H would be the first there in his department, so he would basically get to set standards (something he is really into). Since the beginning of his job search, he's kind of been focused on SF- All of his "dream" companies (Google, FB, Twitter, etc.) are based in the area, so we've been kind of assuming that's where we would eventually end up. Not to mention one of my best friend's from high school lives there, and one of my favorite cousins. And we visited about a year ago, and while we just liked the city, we LOVED the parks/ beaches just outside of it.

So now today, H gets an email from a former coworker about another small agency doing some grassroots sort of business here in town. H seems really excited about this job, and is meeting with the guy this afternoon to talk about it. So that would leave us staying in Boulder- Something that I'm not horribly opposed to because it would mean: 1) Avoiding another cross country move (the WORST). 2) I keep getting sad about the thought of leaving, which makes me feel like I'm not quite ready to move on yet. 3) Assuming the pay is in line with what H is making now, we'd be able to save a ton of money (SF & LA are super, nutty expensive).

I just dropped out of doing lights for a community theater show yesterday, because at that point we were thinking we'd be starting to move in a couple of weeks, so now I feel badly that I've put them in a jam when we might be staying after all.

So, yeah- Everything is up in the air. Which I kind of hate. Serenity now!!!

In other news- Milo is doing GREAT. His first set of blood work 2 weeks ago came back with his liver values through the roof (higher than what they were before surgery), but we were assured it was because his liver was angry from being handled during surgery. He got his second set of blood work done this week, and everything came back exactly as it should have- Which means his liver is starting to grow back to it's normal size. I didn't realize how worried I still was about him until we got that news- Can't tell you how relieved I was to hear that! Yay Milo :)

Anyway- Thanks for "listening" ;)

Re: Small Vent/ Milo Update

  • Super happy to hear about Milo! Glad he's going great and that everything has gone so well.

As far as LA and SF obviously the pay is better BUT you have to add in the cost of living there. While those 2 places have great oppotunities for your H you both need to think about what is best all around for you. So glad he has lots of offers coming in and he could use that to his advantages in so many ways. Good for him and good luck on all his interviews. It will all work out perfectly!!

  • YAY!  I'm so excited to hear the good news about Milo!  :)  So glad he's doing well.

Good luck with trying to figure out the job/move and all that.. I know that can be stressful (I moved from NC to CO just before the wedding).  If you end up staying in Boulder we could have a knottie meet up :-P

  • I'm so happy to hear that Milo is doing well!

Good luck with your decision...I hate when things are up in the air!
