First anniversary on the mind
I'm so excited and this first year has just flown by! However, I'm at a loss of what to do for a gift (I know I have plenty of time to figure it out, but I'm thinking NOW in case I make something that takes time).
We're going to Vegas so our actual gifts are going to be inexpensive. We've already discussed sticking with the traditional paper gifts but I don't want to give just a homemade card, and I don't want to do sports/concert tickets.
What are you doing?
Re: First anniversary on the mind
Well, I was hoping to be able to frame H's first CD, but it doesn't look like he's going to get into the studio before he leaves on tour so that will probably have to wait, LOL.
I've gotten some ideas on Pinterest that are paper-ish:
Framed photobooth strips:

Canvas with vows or first dance lyrics superimposed on wedding photo:

Framed love letters (although I don't think we have any actual letters, although I've saved every card we've given each other):

Honestly, I'm not planning any gifts. I'm sure he isn't either. We've never done anything for anniversaries besides having dinner. Our 1 year is the day before Thanksgiving and as a result, I can't get any time off work. I have a feeling most restaurants will be closed so it might just be a pretty laid back night.
I agree with jcg to check out etsy for some paper options! You might be able to find something unique and interesting.
We are going to go traditional (or at least I am!) and give paper gifts. I am going to make something (not sure what yet) to go in our house out of paper, and then also going to get our puppy DNA tested so we can find out what kind of dog she is. I don't know what H is doing for me!
We are also planning to go out to dinner - I had my dress cut to be knee length so I can wear it in semi normal activities like that, and he can wear his suit!
Not sure what we'll be doing... I want to paint some more nerdy artwork for his office so maybe I'll get around to that. :P
We're just super busy getting everything ready for baby, I'm not sure if we'll be able to do anything too big for ourselves. I like the idea of sticking to the traditional gifts, but I'm so bad at remembering.
Hmmm.
I'm not really sure about gifts. I'm sure I'll get him something and vice versa. But we'll probably just keep it simple. We're planning to go on a little weekend trip or something so we'll probably keep the gifts fairly inexpensive.
DH and I are going homemade and traditional (paper).
I am making DH a notebook that contains 365 dates/activities/discussions for us to do together. A date a day for one whole year.

I'm loving these ideas because I haven't even thought about it. I can't even keep my head on straight with all the changes going on lately! His 30th birthday is in two weeks and my sister had to remind me to plan a party!!
I'm hoping after Labor Day things calm down and it will all get better.

Do you have pics of your dress? I want to see!
Not yet! I've only worn it at the tailor and at home. I promise pictures when we get dressed up though!
Our venue (a historic New England inn) offers an anniversary package. We get a room for the night, dinner, breakfast, and a cake for $200. I booked it a couple weeks ago. I'm most excited about the cake. I just love cake. Luckily, Groupon and Living Social had some deals for activities in that town, so we'll be hitting up a brewery and a living museum on the cheap. Should make for a good weekend.
Speaking of Pinterest, I'd love to have someone photograph us and and have a picture done every year on our anniversary. I see that every now and then on Pinterest.
Oh yay, I'm glad our little board is active. Today I was thinking "Wow, I LIVED on the Knot about this time last year (my wedding date was 11/19, so this would have been exactly a month from my wedding date...crazy).
First anniversary is on my brain too. I think I'm going to do the sports tickets, boring...but the Falcons are really awesome this year and I don't think I can ever go wrong getting those.
I LOVE the idea of getting a nice photo done on the anniversary.
I want to see the shortened dress too! That's awesome. Mine is still under my bed!!! Seriously!
