Herbs

Is it possible to grow herbs this time of year in my house? I'm always needing fresh herbs for recipes I need to make but can always find a limited supply at the store or its super expensive. I'm thinking of growing it and then chopping them up and freezing so I can have them ready when I  need them.

If you had to choose some herbs to grow, what are the main ones you would grow?

Re: Herbs

  • I grow Basil and Oregano on my dinning room table.  It does grow slower inside, but I'm hoping to have it through the winter.  I started them in the spring, and they are still pretty small.  The more you cut the more growth you will have, so I'm keeping them small and hoping they bush out.

  • If I had an indoor herb garden I would probably grow parsley, basil, and maybe cilantro
  • Not sure about indoor but I grow basil, oregano, parsley, thyme, and a few others outdoor.

  • You guys named some good ones, usually ones that I need. I think maybe I will ask H for an herb growing kit for Christmas. My black thumb needs a kit, I dont even know where t begin!

Basil is the easiest to grow, so I would start there.  I just get the jiffy seed starters and a packet of seeds.  Usually I just get the pellets and put them in a plastic container.

When the roots start to come out of the sides - put it in a pot.
