Please recommend your Washer/Dryer. We have narrowed it down to LG/Samsung.+
I am still torn between the Top Load or Front Load.
Also, who has the best prices?
Re: Please recommend your Washer/Dryer. We have narrowed it down to LG/Samsung.+
When hubby and I were picking out a washer and dryer, I was also unsure about whether I wanted a top-loader or front-loader. It turned out though, that DH's parents had recently purchased a front loading washer, and they told us to go with a top-loader. Apparently front-loaders start to smell mildewy, and they require frequent cleaning to keep the stank out.
Anyway, DH and I went with an LG top-loader, and I am so happy we did.
Oh! And between the 2 brands... It varies by the models. Some of the Samsungs are great, some get horrible reviews. Same with LG. Check reviews on Home depot, sears, best buy, lowes, etc.
As far as prices/ finding a good deal... I know some AMAZING deals come out around black friday. Last year home depot had a red LG set for $499 a piece if i remember correctly? I got our $1000+ Kenmore washer for $450... and I bought it online! Didn't have to step foot in a store
Personally I like front loaders, but thats mostly because I like having a surface on top to put a counter to fold laundry etc.
I would NEVER recommend either samsung or LG, I have heard nothing but bad from people who have them, and as we were talking to sales person in a store we mentioned that we didnt want LG he agreed with us that its not a suprise that they are sleek looking, full of fun looking technology, but don't last very long without problems....they are an electronics company first and an appliances company second...
I recommend something with a longer history in appliances like kenmore.

We have the Samsung front loader, without the steam option. We have had them for 4 years, and I have yet to ever regret the decision to go with frontloaders and Samsung.
The smelly issue, just leave the door open. Same as how your mother and grandmother have always left the door open on their top loaders. I personally love the energy efficiency of the frontloaders, and the fact that you can cram those things as full as possible and don't have an issue of the washer getting unbalanced.
As far as the cheapest place. We actually found a local store that could order and deliver the Samsung brand ones. Then we printed off the sale prices from Best Buy, and had that local store price match. We were even able to haggle the price with them, which isn't something you can do at a place like Best Buy.

We have Samsung front loading set. Never had a problem with it although I purchased my parents a slightly better version of my washer (they were out of stock of the same one I had) and it broke within 3 months but was replaced immediately.
As for the stink of front loading machines...mine has never stunk. I do keep the door open for a few hours after I use it so it can dry out.
A bit of warning if you do not have a laundry room and have a laundry closet instead....when we moved into our condo the washer and dryer were too deep to shut the doors so we had to rig up curtains instead.
I find that Best Buy has the best prices. They are always cheaper when I even compare to Sears. Plus I have a Best Buy card and love the 0% financing options. Also to top it off I have their rewards card and when you buy something expensive you get a decent rewards certificate.
