Anybody have a favorite hotel near MI ave? I like The James. I am thinking of staying at the Intercontinental on MI ave because it is slightly cheaper. However, some reviews say that the rooms are fairly shabby. I'm planning/hosting a girls trip there in Nov. I lived there for 5 years so I'm good with all the fun stuff to do and places to eat. But, I want a great to place to stay-but not willing to shell out the kind of money to stay at The Pennisula or the like!
Re: Chicago hotels?
I live in Chicago and stayed at Hotel 71 for a Bachelorette weekend a couple years ago. The rooms were big and nice. They also recently renovated the Marriot.
I stayed at the Intercontinental in April and H and I loved it. Everything was spotless, the bathroom was fairly large, and the mattress and pillows were just as nice as what we have at home!
I don't remember what it used to be, but the building wasn't originally a hotel. Because of that, someone at the hotel told us that there were over 150 room configurations. The room that we were in was large by any standards, but especially compared to hotels that we've stayed at during other urban trips.
An additional perk? There is a starbucks right in the lobby. It was nice to run down and get a coffee first thing and drink it in the room while we were getting ready!
