Re: It's debate time!

  • I'm not sure I can watch much more. and it's only been 25 minutes
  • Obama should be glad he has the moderator there telling him what points to make. 40 minutes in and it has happened twice.
  • A fair debate should start with equal time and an unbiased modertator.

right!!!  He gave obama way more time than romney.  he really sucked as a moderator. I think Romney did an awesome job and could have hit Obama harder with more facts.

  • I loved how Obama kept saying Romney wasn't giving enough details. Do you remember being told congress should just pass the Obamacare bill and then find out what was in the 2000 pages? We weren't supposed to worry about the details then.

yeah.  to me it seemed that romney was giving lots of details and obama was just telling stories as usual.  I was hoping romney would mention that obama hasn't passed a budget in 4 year.

Obama tries to work on people's emotions. Romney was quite impressive. I feel very comfortable with him as POTUS.

  • I disagree. Every candidate uses emotional appeals because that is the most effective persuasive tool. Most people don't notice emotional appeals, especially when it's their candidate who's talking. If you pay more attention to what Romney said, you'll notice his heartwarming stories about people he met along the trail, his commitment to God, his love of this country--all emotional appeals which have nothing to do with what he plans to do for this country. If anything, Romney used more emotional appeal than Obama, which is why he's credited as "winning" this debate.

  • Going in we all knew Romney was the one who needed to come off looking like the "regular" guy and expected the anecdotes.

What I DIDN'T expect was for the POTUS to use them, Grannys, anniversary, teacher story.

I think a true "undecided" got a glimpse and if they are truly undecided didn't see enough from either one yet to sway them 100% lock stock and barrel.

  • I would agree that Romney came off stronger, but I don't think it's going to change a lot of people's minds yet.  There are still more debates to see, and a month for more campaign gaffes or home runs.
