So for Thanksgiving this year (which is next Monday here in Canada) we are having my whole family over to our place. I have never hosted a holiday meal so I just wanted to run the menu past you all and see if I am missing anything or if you have any holiday faves to add
So far we have:
Turkey
Ginger Yams
Garlic chees brussle sprouts
mashed potatoes
stuffing
gravy
buns
and my brother is bringing pumkin pie.
What am I missing and what should I get to drink?
It will be H and I, My brother and 2 nephews (1.5 and 7 months), my parents and my sister (20)
Re: Thanksgiving
We always have to have cranberries with our turkey... both the jello-y ones and the sauce!
Also, to drink, if you're looking for alcoholic, we usually do a nice white wine, non alcoholic, i'd do a cranberry punch of some sort! Have fun!
I'm not getting turkey this thanksgiving, but will have one the weekend after that. I also bought one while they were on sale to cook... some time... i can't wait to cook it!
I agree with green beans. I think the menu looks great. We also do a ham and turkey. And for drinks I think punch would be good, tea, a nice wine for adults, or just cokes.
H and I haven't quite figured out what we are doing for Thanksgiving this year. So my mind is a little blank right now.
oohh! that sounds good! i love thanksgiving foods
i like to do my brussels sprouts with bacon like a pp said, YUM! never tried it with cheese before, but i love cheese, so it sounds good
i have this awesome apple stuffing recipe that i like to make (rachel ray's recipe)
for drinks i usually just have a lot of wine lol but there's usually tea or water for everyone else. we're not big soda drinkers in our family.
this year we're visiting hubby's mema in OK for thanksgiving. we're really looking forward to it
ETA: oh yeah, green bean casserole is quintessential thanksgiving food to me

This is coming from an American Thanksgiving perspective but you have to have cranberry sauce! It's not Thanksgiving without it!
Also at holidays in addition to wine we also do sparking apple cider since it's kind of "fancy." It comes in what looks like a wine bottle so we always felt cool drinking it as kids.
Good luck! Looks yummy!!
Thanks everyone! I had totally forgot about cranberries (and that also reminded me to get pickles), so you all saved me on that one!
We still have some left over cider from the wedding so we can use that and I'll get some cranberry juice.
I don't think I have ever had green beans for holidays...pretty sure most of my family wouldnt touch them so maybe I'll skip that one!! Haha.

Oh haha! I missed that... I was wondering why no one was suggesting stuffing :-)
