Diva Cup

Anyone ever use it? I ordered it last night because I HATE changing tampons every few hours. I'm hoping if I take it out in the shower it wont be as traumatic as I'm afraid of it being.

Re: Diva Cup

  • I've been using one for months now. I have gotten the hang of using it but still wear a panty liner just in case I don't get it in there quite correctly. I'm not really bothered by blood or getting a bit dirty so that doesn't bother me about it. And I have rather heavy periods so I do have to empty mine once during the day at the beginning of my period, but its not really a big deal.
  • Yea, I figured the first few times will be a challenge but hopefully it will get better. I'm assuming once you get it its a piece of cake.

  • My sister used to use one and she loved it. When I was asking her about it before she said that changing it wasn't as big of a deal as she was anticipating.
  • I'm pretty sure we had an epic discussion or two about this before.

    My stance is unchanged. Ick!

(this is coming from the girl who doesn't use tampons)

  • We have discussed this a few times before.  I have been using them off and on.  The PIA is getting the freakin' thing out.  TMI but sometimes it is really hard to get my finger around the circle to pull.  Otherwise, I like it better than tampons.

This is the part I can't get behind.  No thank you to fingering myself!

Haha I use the nuva ring so I'm sure it's similar... But I don't see a problem / trouble with tampons so I'm good.

  • this is going to be TMI.

my biggest problem with the diva cup is that I get blood under my finger nails and I feel like I can never get my hands clean enough.

     Ga-Ross!

Why do you use it?  Like what are the advantages?

  • Its cheap!  Tampons are so freekin expensive and I bleed a lot so I'm always changing them.

    its better for the enviornment.

I won't be stuck anywhere and w/o a tampon unless I start my period at a random time, but I generally wake up in the morning on day 28 and she makes an appearance while i'm going to the bathroom.

and a 'use' lasts so much longer than a tampon. I can't tell you how many times I've been stuck in a meeting for hours needing to change my tampon. you basically eliminate that issue with the diva cup

  • I got it and it wasnt that bad at all! I think my misconception was that it goes in like a tampon and you have to dig all around for it but thats totally not the case. It was super easy to get in (havent taken it out yet, just got it) I am having just a little issue with the twist though, any tricks to get it to twist better?

  • Not sure what "twist" you mean. When do you twist?

It is really easy to get in but out is the prob.  Totally agree with the fingernail thing.  It really needs a pull string.

I don't have tampon or flow probs but found the cups were more comfy and you can have sex with them in.  Plus I tend to forget to change tampons when working or out doing stuff.

After you put it in the directions say to twist 360 degrees. I am using a "Stage 2" though so maybe you only need to do it for those?

  • maybe it is the difference in brands.  I used Instead and Softcups.  With these, you squeeze the circle and insert.  No twisting Smile  (twisting sounds scary to me)
