Help me fix my painting mistake!

I moved into a new home.  We had all of our floors refinished.  For the staircase I decided to have the steps stained and planned to paint the risers white.

I primed the risers using primer recommended by my contractor and then painted.  When I took up the painter's tape it tore huge chunks of paint off the risers.  How do I fix this???

Re: Help me fix my painting mistake!

  • You will need to repaint and possibly sand down the edges of where the paint came off.

You can use tape again, just be sure to take the tape of when it's still wet.

  • I notice that happens when I put thick layers of paint on. Not sure if that's the case here, but just something I notice. Have to tell myself to lay off.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.
