St Lucia

My brother and his wife are planning an anniversary trip to St Lucia and he asked if we wanted to go. I would never have given it much thought to go there, but now I'm kind of excited by this prospect! They got married on May 2nd and we were married May 12 (two years apart), so it works almost pefectly. I will be in classes until about the 10th, so this would be a good opportunity after the semester.

The resort they are looking at is Ti Kaye Village. Anyone been? The hard part will to be to convince the hubster to go. He pretty much hates the water, but they have tons of non-water activities that would be fun...mountain biking, hiking, atv riding. So, lots to do.

I would really love to go because this may be one of the last trips we take before I either get embroiled in school (won't have much time off for a vacation like this) or have a baby. Or even both!

Re: St Lucia

  • I haven't been on that resort, but I have been on that side of the Island where it is. It is amazing and beautiful! There is a lot to do that doesn't involve water. The shopping is incredible and so is the food. If you can, go on a hike on the Pitons. It is amazing and special. They also have a hot spring where you can get pampered with a mud bath in the current active volcanoes.

If you do want to see the Island from the water, but don't want to swim, then you can take one of the many powerboats out on a guided wildlife tour. We did that and went whale watching and found an amazing pod of dolphins with all the rum punch we could ask for.

    Go!

  • I've never been, but my friends stayed at Ti Kaye Village for their honeymoon in June.

They loved it there. Their only complaint was that there was alot of 'wildlife' (read: bugs) that got into their room.

  • We went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon, and it was amazing!  We didn't stay at that resort, but it looks amazing.  FWIW, our wedding was May 12 and we went right at that time - I honestly didn't see any bugs anywhere, even when we were in the rainforest.  There is a lot of non-water stuff to do.  Here are our pictures if you need more persuasion!
