The Interview Suit-skirt or pants?!
I am totally overthinking this-mainly b/c this job is an amazing opportunity that I would love to have....
I have 2 black suits, both very tailored and professional- one is a skirt, one is pants. Job is a professional position in a higher ed environment. Also- I hate nude pantyhose but that seems appropriate for a skirt, right? What do you think- pants or skirt?
Re: The Interview Suit-skirt or pants?!
I think both are fine for the interview, but do wear tights if you plan to wear the skirt.
I personally prefer pants, especially for an initial interview. I don't know why, but I feel like I exude more confidence while wearing pants. Maybe it's the fact that I can cover up my least favorite body parts or not have to worry about ripping my hosiery.
Good luck with your interview!
This. I've also been to interviews where I've been given a tour of the company. It's easier to run around in pants and comfortable shoes than it is in a skirt. I learned that the hard way when a potential employer had me climb five flights of stairs in four inch heels and a pencil skirt. Never again.
Me too. I know they're ugly but it's an hour of your life and bare legs are unprofessional.
Wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable and confident.
I've been in a position to interview many applicants for various levels of employment (assistant through executive level) and as long as the interview dress is appropriate, well pressed and fits within my corporate culture pants v.s. skirts would not even register with me.
That being said, I can absolutely tell who is wearing the suit and who is being worn by the suit. If nude pantyhose make you uncomfortable, go with the pants. If you're spending the interview thinking about how much you hate your tights, it'll show up all over you.
