How are things at your house?
We just had our 30 day review and they're in the process of fixing some things for us. We had our dinette light moved (it was way off center), a bowed wall fixed and they have to powerwash some mortar (they say, but it looks like paint to me). Lanna's floor is creaking and the "easy" solution didn't work, so I'm waiting to see what they'll do there. There are also some parts of our backyard that are swampy, so they have to fill that in. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes (some of the things we are having done were brought up in our final walk through, so juding from that it may take a while).
Our neighbors have kept to themselves much more than expected though, which is a huge relief. And I'm having fun decorating for fall ![]()
Re: **lala**
I was just going to ask you the same thing! Things are going pretty well. We had a couple bad outlets (make sure you use all the outlets) and we are keeping a running list of everything; nothing major. Let me know what they do about the creaking floor. Our steps creak and I never brought it up because I didn't know that was fixable.
That's great that you haven't had any issues with the neighbors. How are your other neighbors? I feel like I really have to "up" my fall decorating this year since we are in a nicer neighborhood. It's a lot of pressure lol.
We have not tested all of our outlets -- good call! Some we can't even get into. They have those safety block things in them and I can't push past them!
We also have a step that creaks, but not as bad. They tried to lift just the corner of the carpet and put some screws down in, but it didn't work for the floor or the stair, so now I'm not sure what they'll do. It sounds like they'll have to pull the carpet back more, but how much remains to be seen
Do you have a fireplace? We used ours for the first time yesterday and it set off our smoke alarms! And woke Wes up from his nap (not pleased)!
Our other neighbors are great! I like the people who live on the other side of us a lot. Their kids are a little younger than ours, but they are super nice. I figured we'd like them b/c our SR kept telling us how much she thought we'd get along. The ppl behind us haven't moved in yet but we've met them and they're nice, and there's no one directly accross from us, so we shoudl be good as long as those ones continue to behave! Do you like yours?
I know, I've been on an endless search for a new fall wreath and there's just nothing! I finally got a cornstalk though (I've always liked them but never had a lamp post to tie it to)!
We love our neighbors! We have had a couple of neighborhood get togethers and everybody we met seems really nice. We've gotten really close with the one family next door to us.
I made this burlap wreath I saw on pinterest. http://www.lifeonmarsblog.net/2012/03/easy-burlap-wreath.html
It took me about 1/2 to make. It was really easy and has stood up to the rain so far. I still need to find something to put on it, it looks a little plan with out an accent. And we still need to get our cornstalks. Dh and I were just saying how nice it is that we have a lamp post to tie it to.
We have gas fireplace. It smelled a little funky the first couple of times but no smoke. That's crazy. I hope you put that on your list. Maybe it's not vented correctly.
That's great! It's so nice to like your neighbors.
I love that wreath! Our neighbors have one exactly like that! I actually just found another burlap wreath tutorial I wanted to try for an inside wreath. I'd love to hang one over the mirror over our mantle (I have a thing for wreaths over mirrors):
http://www.myheartsdesireblog.com/2012/06/burlap-rag-wreath-tutorial.html I was afraid it might be vented wrong. I hope not!I really like that wreath too!
Did you get an alarm system in your house? My lovely husband set our off yesterday when he got up in the morning. The rest of us were still sleeping.
Talk about a heart attack!
Oh, funny you should bring that up!
We have set it off twice accidentally, but then yesterday my H had to run back into our house for our diaper bag and set it off. For some unknown reason he had a hard time shutting it off and accidentally typed in the duress code (1st mistake) didn't tell me what he did (2nd mistake) and then failed to answer the phone when Guardian called (WHY? OH WHY?). My cell phone died on Friday, so I didn't even bring it with me when we left, nor was I aware of the mess he created so that I could nag him about answering his phone, and so they sent the police to our house. If it happens again (which it hopefully will not) we'll get a fine.
