How is everyone doing? Any must read books or must take vacations? What are you looking forward to in the next few months?
Re: Updates?
After a stressful afternoon in 8th grade, right now I'm primarily looking forward to Monday off. Thank you Mr. Columbus!
ETA: Now that I've had some time to destress, no major updates here. We're starting to plan out a group vacation with family and friends at an all inclusive, but due to scheduling conflicts we're now looking at spring break 2014. We're also working on slowly repainting the main level of our house and then finishing the floors by installing trim. We've also talked about our TTC plan, and right now we're thinking we'll start TTC after the vacation, which gives us some more time to get things financially secure.
DD's first birthday is in a week. Her party is next weekend. Working on coping with my "baby" turning 1, but she's already so independent.
Band is over in 3.5 weeks. Thesis draft is due in 5.5 weeks. FL trip is in 8 weeks.
DH is talking to some private companies in the area (i.e. not DoD contractors) and looking to get out of consulting (he hates paying healthcare and taxes completely on his own i.e. it doesn't come out of a paycheck).
I am surviving. Somehow!
You'll get there Stephanie!
We had to deal with the dog swallowing some type of foreign object a couple of weeks ago and he got an overnight stay at the vets. He is now doing fine, but we watch him like a hawk.
I have some type of eye infection. I went to the dr on Monday during my prep time and the dr. sent me home. Having a sub with the class I have this year is just bad news. Even with all the other adults I have in there, they have a really tough time with new people. I've got to make sure that I have someone in there that brings down the hammer. Said eye infection is now back after 3 days of meds, so I will be going back to the dr. after a meeting this afternoon. Ugggh...I just want to be able to enjoy my upcoming 3 day weekend. Thank you Columbus!
Anyone ever been to Harper's Ferry? We're thinking of taking the dog and making a day of it with hiking and lunch.
Hey!! I'm doing well, trying to truly believe that I'll be half baked tomorrow and this little one just might be my rainbow baby. I'm trying to get myself into gear and clean the house & prepare for moving my step-kids bedrooms around to make room for the baby but I have found myself being such a bookworm lately that I'm severely lacking on my housewife duties.
Right now I'm very into Bared to You and Reflected in You by Sylvia day. I'm also in the midst of reading Gabriel's Inferno, but am having difficulty getting into it. Maybe b/c it's written in 3rd person or that you have to trudge through the first to get to the goods of the second. I don't know but these are my top reads right now (after I finished the 50 shades series for a second time)
I'm looking forward to DH's overtime slowing down at work and for he and I to spend some quality time together before the baby comes. I'm also looking forward to the holidays. We have the kids this year, and my cousin (who is like a brother) just got his court custody battle finished yesterday and found out his daughter will be here for Christmas too! It's going to be a great time!!!

Not a whole lot new here. Just started reading "Where We Belong" by Emily Giffin and I am really enjoying it. Watched the debate tonight (we DVRd it) and am having a hard time deciding who to vote for. I like Obama as a person and believe he has the interest of American's at heart, but I agree more with Romney's policies. I just think he's a pretentious b*astard and can't imagine voting for him.
This weekend we're taking Cole to the pumpkin patch so that will be fun. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend and spending time with the famly.
ETA: In the next few months I'm looking forward to-Cole turning 1 on Dec. 8th! Can't believe it's been almost a year. Also-my nephew being born, he's due Dec. 2nd. Halloween, X-mas, and Thanksgiving. The seasons changing.
I was wondering what everyone was up to. I finally finished I've Got Your Number and now am reading a short story about a man who is blind who hikes the Appalachian Trail. It is a good story. I don't think I could hike it!
I am busy with work and just life in general. I hurt my foot a few weeks ago by stepping on something at a wedding reception and went to the dr last week and she had to numb it and dig around in it. It is much better now but still hurts sometimes. I am hoping it is healing. I am also looking forward to Columbus Day and Halloween.
It's been a while!
I never "officially" announced, b/c we were waiting to 12 weeks. And unfortunately I had a miscarriage at a little over 10 weeks (was due Feb 2) in July. It's been a long couple months, but we got the ok to try again last month. So, hopefully we will have good news again soon.
Work is going well & much less busy than the spring was! We took a great vacation in August right before the fall quarter started. We have plans with our families every weekend through Thanksgiving... so it's going to be a busy fall! My aunt's 70th b-day, football game at DHs alma mater, my SILs baby shower, a cousin's wedding...I haven't been reading much for fun lately- just for work! Hopefully will have time for fun reading again in November.
So in 4 weeks I'll be living in Atlanta! DH won't be down for another month after I get there so that will suck but we are both excited about finally making the move. This month is crazy though. Trying to juggle packing, selling stuff we don't want to take with us, organizing FIL's 60th bday party, and trying to see friends before I leave is hard. Not to mention work is crazy busy so, ya, we have a lot going on.
We've taken a slight break from TTC, but I think we will start again on my next cycle. DH is having a hard time with his dad getting older because it makes him realize that he is also getting older. He wants to have 2 kids by the time he is 40....he's 35 now. So, ya, kinda need to start TTC again!
We are also in the midst of trying to plan a big trip next year. My mom really wants to take me and my sister to Italy to meet some family that she recently got in contact with. Mom has offered to pay for our flights and even some hotel stays so if everything else works out rig, it shouldn't cost us too much....what a trip!
That's about it here. I just finished reading Summerland by Elin Hildebrand and just started Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult.
I am so sorry to hear this, Ellen. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Not much going on here! I've just been subbing and kind of chilling. My birthday was a few weeks ago and I reached my goal of being able to run a 5k without stopping the day before I turned 26. So that was really satisfying!
I've been reading a ton, but all the books I've read lately have only been so-so. I'll let you know if I find a good one!
