Timeshare trade to Kauai

We own a timeshare week here in FL (with Interval International) and are hoping to trade the week for one in Kauai in June 2013. Is it easy to find an available week or is Kauai a really hard place to trade to?

These are the 3 resorts we're looking at:

1. Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas (Interval)
2. Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club (Interval)
3. Marriott's Kauai Beach Club (Interval)

Any suggestions on when I should put the trade request in or how long you think it might take?

Thanks!

Re: Timeshare trade to Kauai

  • I've been able to trade internally through Starwood Vacation Network into the Westin Princeville without any issues. I'm currently booked to go there in late May of next year. I know internal trades are a lot easier with Starwood, though. I think if you trade through Interval, you have a good shot, but a lot depends on what you own in Florida. Do you know if your FL unit has good trading power? I would also check out trying to trade on tug2.net. You can post an exchange ad and see if you get any response that way. Again, it depends on what you own in Florida.

  • We own at the Marriott Kauai Beach Club and I can tell you that you should be trading at least a year ahead, especially to get the week you want.  All three of those resorts in Kauai are extremely popular and Kauai itself is an extremely sought after vacation destination.  You should call asap and see if there is anything.  Put your trade request in now and wait and see if something comes up.  That's the thing though, you may be waiting and waiting and nothing will even come up available.  Kind of the chance you take while forgoing other resort availability options in the meantime.

Just an FYI, Interval International is the timeshare trading company, no resorts are owned through them, you become a member just to trade or purchase getaways, etc.

Which resort do you own that you are wanting to deposit for a trade if you don't mind me asking?  We actually traded for a Hyatt resort in Key West this year (going next month).
