We have a 60 day closing

Our sellers wanted it to get their affairs in order.  Anyone else have more than a 30 day closing?  I feel like this is going to take FOREVER!

Re: We have a 60 day closing

  • There are lots of reasons things like this happen.  They might be purchasing another home, getting through Thanksgiving, a financial reason, etc.  It's definitely something that can be negotiated up front, but a 60 day closing isn't a big outlier in the real estate world.  Good luck.
  • We did a 60 day closing and then an additional rent back by the seller for 30 days. (They were moving out of state at a specified date)

We had no timetable that was needed so were willing to accommodate their needs.

  • I had a 45 day close and it ended up moving out to around 60 once all was said and done.
  • We asked for a 60 day close because we found a house we loved earlier than we thought and wanted to close closer to the end of our lease and the sellers were fine with that.  Our loan officer said it was good we had a longer close time because now a days it's tough getting thing closed in 30 days since underwriters are crossing more t's and dotting more i's when it comes to approving loans.  So even if we did a 30 or 45 day close it most likely would have been pushed back (and that would have driven me nuts, to think I was closing on a day and then not being able to)

  • We asked for a 60 day close because the underwriter wouldn't sign off on our loan until after DH started his new job (his salary tripled so we needed it to qualify). Did it drag? Yeah, a little, but we kept ourselves as busy as possible. And with Halloween, Thanksgiving and preparing for Christmas, you might appreciate the extra time!

  • Ours was a 45 day close. It was tough, but it went by quickly.
  • We are closing December 14th, we wanted a longer one to save some more. Looks like we are on a similar house purchasing timeline. My inspection is Friday and I saw yours was this week as well. Good luck to us!
  • We requested a 60 day close when we bought our house. We still had 6 more months on our rental and wanted to avoid an extra month of two payments if we could. It had nothing to do with the actual transaction of the house or our financing.
