Lighter note: What to do for b-day?
I have my birthday options narrowed down to three activities for this weekend.
1. Koziars Christmas Village (haven't been there in years)
2. Grings Mill park for the lights (never been)
3. Local house tour
Then get dinner. Good times.
Out of the three, what would you choose for a low key time?
Re: Lighter note: What to do for b-day?
I kind of enjoy screaming kids when it's "fun" screaming like "Oh wow, look at that! That's cool!", as opposed to "Mooooommmy I want a tooooy!" screaming heard all to often on recent shopping trips.
It's the Exeter house tour. I have been driving past the signs on my way to work, and they sell tickets at the Boscovs East. I'm going to see if they have a map of the route before I commit. I'm nosey so a house tour appeals to me.
The house tour sounds cool, especially during the holiday when the houses will be all decorated and stuff.
What exactly is a house tour? Do you go in the people's houses or just drive by?
On the very few house tours I've been on we went in the house. And the one my ILs were a part of (they're in Delaware County) people came through and they told people the history of the house. I hope this one is like that.
I want to pick up a map of the route so I can do drive-bys to see if I want to go in the houses.
My secret motive is to see how the people got on the tour because I think our house would be tour worthy. But don't tell DH.
I didn't know Exeter did a house tour. The Centre Park Historic District does one every year at Christmas. I love old houses so I've always wanted to do that one. Exeter might be kind of boring. I guess it depends on what houses are involved. When I think of Exeter, I just think of all the suburbs built in the 80's and 90's. All the houses are the same. I'm nosey too, but there's only so many nearly identical 10-20 year old houses I can look at. I'm sure that's not how it is, though. I think I'm just not giving Exeter enough credit
I thought the same thing. If I'm going on a house tour, I want it to be old houses. So if the route is all the same kind of houses then count me out.
I'll have to look up Centre Park's house tour. I hope I didn't miss it. There are some houses I would love to go into in that area.
You didn't miss it! It's December 14. I'm hoping I can convince DH to take a break from the dining room reno so we can go
I have no idea what houses are involved, but in that area it doesn't matter. They're pretty much guaranteed to be gorgeous.

Ooooh. Thank ya!
So many of those houses are ridiculous! I'm glad people are trying to maintain them.
No problem! It's really great to see a neighborhood like that still around. We had our wedding at the Stirling Guest Hotel which is in the Historic District. It's a huge old mansion and it was so cool to be in there and have the place overnight. It was like we lived there
