Wedding Photo Display

Hi Ladies,

It's been a while since I've been on (like, since June! yikes!) Anyhow, H & I have been haunted with this for a while... We have SO many wonderful wedding photos and I'd like to showcase some of them in our home -- but I can't figure out how (which is ridiculous considering I work for a photographer! lol)

I want something more then a few 5*7 (etc.) frames scattered around the house but want to make sure our house doesn't become a shrine to our wedding.  Anyone figured out how to display their images in a cool way but without over doing it? I'd love your help!

Thanks! :)

Re: Wedding Photo Display

  • I haven't gotten my wedding prints back yet but I've been slowly figuring out what I want to do with them. We have a gallery wall with 7 frames on it that will have some wedding pictures, engagement pictures, and rock the dress pictures displayed there as well as some every day pictures of us and our dogs. Our 11x14 print will go up on one of our living room walls and we have a photo collage that will hold more e-pic, wedding pictures and RTD pictures. I think this will go in our office so it's still on display but not all over the living room. We have a marriage prayer picture frame with a wedding picture in our bedroom and I have the framed puzzles that we used as a guest book hanging right next to this frame. We also have a picture of both H and myself alone from the RTD shoot in our bedroom framed. I love having pictures in my home and I see nothing wrong with displaying them but I do agree that it can be over done and become too cluttered.

  • For wedding gifts I got 2 collage type sets so I will be placing some in there. Also we get a book with our set so we will leave that set up in the living room I'm sure. And I have 2 16x20 one is an engagement and one is a bridal so I am going to be framing them and putting those up. I think the trick is to spread it out. Maybe some in the hall some in your bedroom and some in the living room.
  • H and I have had the same delima.  He actually is not a big fan of a lot of pictures in the house and would prefer "art" in the house.  I for one am all about hanging my family on the walls in every room - so we have to compromise.  We are using a "collage" type frame that has I think 8 photos in it and then our 11x14 and our wedding thumbprint tree.  My mom and his mom each have hallways that are just endless pictures of family - so we thought we would keep the tradition going and do the same thing.  Helps that we have ridiculously high ceilings so I can totally make that work!  That way I have our "hall of fame" and H doesn't have pictures everywhere so we don't create a shrine.
  • We have one large collage frame in our entranceway that has 1 picture of us, and then all the family pictures. We have one 8x10 of the wedding party and some none wedding pictures in the stairwell, one (yet to be) huge canvas over our bed of one of the more 'artistic' shots, and will be putting one of the shots at the beach in one of the bathrooms (again a more artistic shot)...and one 5x7 in our bedroom and thats it for wedding. We already have a lot of H's photography framed throught the house, so its not really "all wedding" since we have lots of other large senic prints.
  • I have a couple large collage frames, and a big canvas of our favorite wedding photo.

  • We have a long-ish hallway when you walk into our apartment, so I have a display of wedding photos there (Four 8x10s and Four 5x7s).  We'll also be getting a large print to put in our bedroom.

  • My plan is to have two 8x10s in 11x14 frames displayed above our mantel of just the two of us. Then on either side of our living room window have four 5x7s in 8x10 frames of us with our families and WP in different combos. We also have some of other people at our wedding (without us) scattered around the living room.

Not so creative, but it works for our space. We have a wall in our hallway where we might create a collage of frames with other photos of our wedding in the future... once I hang up the other frames.
