  • I am well aware how expensive this will be.  We have finally moved back but there is no heating system in place yet.  We do have a pellet stove but need something for these chilly fall nights. I told the h to have a plan and the system in place before end of summer because fall is his busy season.  Had decided all along to do hydronic electric baseboard heat.   Now he is debating ductless system, wall heaters and the baseboard.   Like everything with this house, most decision are made on the fly or cost a premium because everything is last minute.  fun times I tell you, fun times.

On average what can i expect electric bill to be?  500 per month in winter?

We do have the pellet stove for winter but it is not that cold yet to run that bad boy.

J is convinced hydronic baseboard is the way to go, the good people are Marley MEP (makers of Fahrenheat) suggested fan force wall heaters.

  • just an FYI we have a ductless system in our house we use it for air in the summer and to supplement our oil burner heat during the winter.  The ductless by itself can't do enough once it gets to cold outside. Although, I do love the ductless system...  Oh and DH bought ours online and installed it himself, he just had to have someone come and charge the system.  HTH

  • Prior to the house we have now which is natural gas (love love love) we had electric in our old one. It would cost us between 500-700 a month to heat it with electric and to us the house never felt warm. We still used a space heater in our bedroom because we were so cold at night and would have the fireplace on as much as possible to help warm the living room/dining room.
