I'm back from visiting the midwife

Well that sucked. She said everything looks and feels good but she?s not happy I?ve waited almost an entire year to tell her that we?re having trouble getting pregnant. She said the wait a year thing for people my age is old news.  So she is sending Ben to get a semen analysis.  I haven?t told him this yet, because he forgot his phone today?why today?!!  and I am getting some procedure done where they check everything to make sure I don?t have any blockage in my tubes.

So I need to  call and set that appointment up. I?m praying that I?m pregnant/got pregnant this month. I never thought I would get to the point of needing to see a reproductive specialist.

Re: I'm back from visiting the midwife

  • I'm sorry you have to go through all of this :( Good luck and hopefully they can figure out what is going on.
  • One of TK Philly girls (I think she's in TN Philly) ButtonsPepper had some problems, and she her doc put her on a vitamin regimen.  I think a few cycles on that vitamin regimen, and she had a BFP.  Her son is turning 1 next week.  I can ask her for the vitamin regimen if you'd like?  Worth a shot?
  • Sorry you're going through this...I hope there is a simple answer/solution for you guys.  Is it an HSG she is setting you up for?  I've seen them done while in Xray school...they seem pretty painless and from what I know, can actually help increase your chances because if there is any type of blockage...the dye can actually help.

  • Oh Ben is going to be thrilled! My parents went through the same thing as you guys.

My mom had that blockage testing done and got pregnant the very next cycle. Then when my brother was 9 months old they found out they were pregnant with me, then when I was 13 months old, they found out they were pregnant with my younger brother. This was after 5 years of unexplained infertility. That one test cleared her out and she became fertile myrtle. Yup, my parents waited 5 years before going to their doctor.

You have way more patience and will power than I do to wait as long as you did before talking to your doctor. You have kept such a positive level head about this whole situation and I raise my glass to you.

Beer Heres to hoping you get your BFP ASAP and can put this all behind you.

    wow! thats awesome for them.

and thank you for the kind words. I'm trying to be level headed about it and just trying to continue enjoying life until I get pregnant.

  • I loved our RE's office.  We went to Reproductive Associates of DE.

Mark wasn't thrilled with having to do the SA either.  I think he was worried that it might be his fault.  I had a HSG done and it showed a blocked tube, however a laparoscopic surgery by my RE showed my tubes were fine.  (Apparently, my muscle spasmed  so the dye couldn't flow through. )

I know someone who went there. She had a lot of success with them and really liked Dr. Russell.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it's something with an easy fix. I bet that before you know it, there will be a little Andrea or Ben running around the farm!

My cousin went to Dr. Russell. She has an adorable daughter now.  I chose RAD because of things I've read on studies they did, etc.  Plus they have more doctors so I was able to get in quicker.

  • well thats positive feedback on Dr. Russell!
  • I dont think anyone ever thinks they will be in that situation but fingers crossed its something simple and easy to fix. My bff from HS tried to get pregnant for 3 years without any luck. One month on Clomid and she was preganant with a beautiful baby boy. Sometimes our bodies just need a little jump start. Thinking of you! Hopefully Ben takes it well, you have been dealing with it for almost a year, he shouldn't make it any harder for you.

  • I have heard a lot of good things about Dr. Russell...his office is right downstairs from mine and 2 of my friends have just started working there.  If we end up having continued troubles and need further treatment, I will definitely be going there!
