If you've done Weight Watchers, please come in.

I'm toying with this idea again.  I do this about once per year and I never take the plunge.  :(

I see that there is no enrollment fee through 10/20, so I'm considering doing it now again.  It says though that you have to pay a "weekly meeting fee."  How much is the fee?  If it makes a difference, I will most likely do the South Park Shops location.

If you've done WW, can you weigh in...no pun intended...  What can I expect?  Should I do meetings, or just do the online program?  I'm afraid I won't be accountable with the online program.  :(

Re: If you've done Weight Watchers, please come in.

  • I've only done the online program about a year ago.  I liked being able to track what I eat online and on my phone, etc. without having to get weighed in and lectured at the meetings.  I lost about 15lbs and then I got bored and pretty much gained the weight back after I fell off the wagon.  I continue to toy with the idea every time I get an email, which is daily from them.  I've heard that the meetings are better than online (from a few of my friends who have done it - one losing about 40lbs and has kept it off for the past 6 months).

I may try it again and do the meetings - which will also be at the South Park Shops.

  • I'm currently going and have lost 12lbs.  I do the "Monthly Pass" Which I think is $45.00/month.  It gives you access to the meetings and the e-tools.  When I follow the program it really works for me.  And I personally need to go to meetings to be accountable.

I actually went to the WW in SS shops when I lived over that way.  The leader at the meetings I went to was great.  I think her name was Kris.

I think the key to WW is planning.  It's easy for me to stay on program when I plan ahead, if I don't it's disasterous.

  • If you do want to just do the online stuff check out myfitnesspal.com.  It gives you all sorts of online tracking - Calories, sugar, fat, etc.  It does NOT give you the accountability of having to get on a scale in front of people, though.

    Good luck!

  • The first time I just did meetings, the second time I did online and meetings and it made all the difference.  But you need to be active online.  If you feed (pun intended) on positive reinforcement you will love the meetings.  I think the meeting leaders also make a difference.  Some leaders are way more inspirational and keep the meetings focused.  If you don't like that location, don't be afraid to try a different one.    Good luck!  I need to get my butt back to meetings.
