Dog peeing on couches, not dominance issue
Alright, my dog Nala has peed on the couch a few times recently, she used to when she was a puppy and couldn't hold it for very long. This morning after I had just taken her out she went back to laying on the couch and at some point peed.
Normally, I would assume that it's a marking/dominance thing, but Nala is a very insecure, submissive dog. She's so submissive, she doesn't really even play with our other dog. I'm just at a loss, it's so frustrating. I can't figure out why she does this. The only thing I can think of right now is to put a pillow for her onthe floor and restrict her time on the furniture. Normally both dogs have free reign including the furniture, so this will be difficult.
I'm also taking our other dog to training class tonight, and will speak to his behaviorist about it and see what she thinks.

How old is she and what breed?
Also, have you noticed this only recently? It could possibly be a side effect of the antibiotics she's on. Also, if she's not feeling well and experiencing colitis, it could be from that. I would call her vet to ask about this. It could be that she is uncomfortable and in pain.If it isn't a UTI or from the medications/colitis, I would guess she is either submissively urinating or just has poor control over her bladder. Is it possible something could be spooking her when she does this? Or is she just calmly sleeping on the couch?
I think the more likely cause is that her muscle control isn't great and she is having incontinence when she is sleeping because her body is relaxed. This is common in some breeds, like labs. Another factor would be her age. Older dogs tend to experience incontinence more frequently.
You may want to talk to her vet about this is and possibly put her on something for it, whether it's a natural supplement or prescription medication.

I popped into speak to our vet before Pongo's class, and she said much of what y'all have. She said it didn't sound like a UTI as that urine normally smells very strong, however that doesn't entirely rule it out. I'm gonna set up an appt to have her checked out from head to toe, to rule anything physical out. I'm gonna keep an eye on her, and see if there's any sort of trend in it. She's the only dog we've had to deal with peeing on the couch, but I've never noticed a trend in it before.
I didn't think she was still dealing with her stress colitis, but I could be wrong.
