We are looking for a bakery or someone to design a cake for SIL's baby shower. Someone posted a name back in the summer who does it out of their house, but she is not doing them at the moment. South Philly/Center City/South Jersey is OK. TIA!
Re: Cake Recommendation
I'm mostly a lurker, but I do have a recommendation - Adelaide's Cakes in Glendora, NJ. I just used them for a cake for my daughter's birthday party and we were thrilled with them. The cake looked/tasted beautiful. I'd found a few others including some who worked out of their homes, but my daughter has a peanut allergy, so many weren't willing to bake the cake for us.
The one I wanted to use was called The Sweetest Baker. She has a website and a facebook page.

SERIOUSLY! this is the 2nd time today someone has mentioned cake. Earlier I heard about ice cream cake and now I'd throat punch someone for a slice.

Don't you have some cake balls stashed in your freezer somewhere?

Thanks...now I have to stop at Flying Monkey on the way home to see if they have any cake truffles.
I ordered a full sheet cake for Jack's baptism so that I had plenty of leftovers.
Piggy. Right here.

I think I do actually but they aren't dipped in chocolate and I have a work event tonight.
Erbur...it's a good thing I dont pass anywhere near such places, ever.

Now I want cake, too.
When we lived in graduate hospital, I always ordered cakes from Betty's Fudge/Speakeasy...I'm not sure if they're still doing cakes but you could call and ask. I think I had chocolate chip pound cake for DS's baptism and 2 years later, I can still remember how amazing it was. http://www.bettysfudge.com/
If any of the smaller bakeries don't work out, try Whole Foods. I've ordered them for larger parties (their vanilla one with strawberries/buttercream in the middle is amazing...they also have a nice flourless chocolate one). They must have at least 15 different options.
