Well great. LL won't pay for exterminator
So, we researched, talked to some exterminator friends, and have a plan to attack this nest ourselves. Tonight we'll spray from the baseboard pipe into the wall, then plug that up with spray foam. then we'll go spray the crud out of the nest from the outside. then if I can get some pyrethrin dust we'll add that to it either tomorrow morning or tomorrow night when the spray is dry.
Please send me good thoughts that this will work. I really can't shell out hundreds of dollars for an exterminator, and don't want to end up in a fight with the landlord over this.

FYI - I've killed 26 bees in my living room today. Landlord just called and was kinda like "ok, try that" when I described my plan, but I reiterated that this means there is a nest in his walls.... he kinda laughed and said "ok."
Please let this work - we move in March. It can be the next person's problem ;-)

I would have freaked at the 2nd bee. I can't imagine killing 26 in 1 day! I give you credit for not having flipped out at the LL.

Yep. I may be just about over my insanely ginormous fear of bees after this week. As long as I'm armed with a fly swatter and they are slow from the cold weather ;-)
Why can't they just have a nest in the ground like normal yellow jackets????

Update! We found the nest - side of the house, not inside the wall, thank god.
last night DH sprayed the hole inthe floor board with wasp spray then sealed it with that spray foam stuff. Then he went outside, pulled a piece of molding off and exposed the hive and soaked the crap out of it ;-)
I refuse to go outside and see it so I have no idea what size it is ;-)

Yep, he rocks! He was proud of me for finding the nest. ;-) and for dealing with almost 3 dozen bees inside yesterday.
We'll keep spraying probably for a week b/c weather warming up but I think they are finally leaving.
Now to see where they go next. Someone else's house or yard, please!
