**Clare**-pulmonologist

Hi Clare,

I think you had said before that Gavin sees a pulmonologist at Children's North?   Can you recommend who you see?  We just got chest xray results back, and Liam still has pneumonia, 5 weeks and 2 rounds of antibiotics later, so the pediatrician feels it's time to take the next step.

thanks!

Re: **Clare**-pulmonologist

  • Not to hijack the post but I really like Jonathan Spahr.  We saw him at Children's so I don't know if he goes to north too.  The geek in me googles every doc and researches their training so while he's a ped pulm, he also is adult trained too so if there was an issue, he follows adults too.

  • Hi Emmy!

(BTW - I think I walked by you in Walmart on Sunday - you were leaving - wearing a white fleece jacket and talking with someone). I hope you had a good shopping trip! :) )

Dr. Spahr did come recommended to us - but I had already made an appt. and took the first one available (I called on a Monday morning and got us in for Thursday morning). It was with....Dr. Weiner. http://www.chp.edu/CHP/our+physicians+and+staff+allergy+and+immunology

The majority of the time was spent with a respiratory therapist - who was FANTASTIC. Dr. Weiner was very good as well - he spoke fast, but I just made sure to ask for clarification, and I took notes (and they gave us diagrams of how to use the inhalers). I would recommend getting in early, though. We had an 8am appt., and they told us to get there for 7:30 b/c of testing to be done first. Well, they didn't take us back until almost 8, but when we left (closer to 9, the waiting room was crowded.

The facility is very nice and easy to get in and out of, too. Good luck and I hope Liam feels bettrr soon!

412-692-PEDS (7337) is the appointment number

  • That was me!  I was with my mom :)

Thank you for the recommendation(s)!  I ended up calling a little while ago & taking the first available appointment (which is next Monday)...and now of course, I'm searching my desk for the tiny piece of paper where I wrote down the name & can't find it, ugh!

  • Aww - how fun you get to go shopping with your Mom!! (Even if it just for groceries!)

    Well hello then! :)

And you're welcome - you probably got one of the two I mentioned. Either way, I think you'll be happy with them. Really, the therapist did the majority of the testing (though Gavin is older than Liam, so it might be different for you). I just hope you can find some relief for the poor bugger. I can't imagine the discomfort he has to be in!

  • haha, yeah, she had babysat for us over the weekend and needed to go grocery shopping anyway, so tagged along with me rather than going by herself at home :)  Shopping (even at walmart) by ourselves is always exciting!

I will keep you posted on Liam, I hope he gets some relief, too.  thanks again.

Isn't that the truth? That's why I'm starting to do Friday night or early Sat morning trips, espec. since I'm not sleeping great anyways these days!
