Family Planning Appt w Gyno

Today I have my first appointment with my new gyno. I believe they are going to do an annual exam in addition to talking to me about family planning. DH was orinigally going to go in with me so he could ask questions too, but since he has his interview later we both decided he should sleep instead. I am hoping they do a pregnancy test, even though I am sure it would be too soon for me to show up as being pregnant.

  • Well, they didn't take a urine sample, which means they didn't do a pregnancy test Sad I am sure it would have been too early anyway. My Doctor told me once I have a positive HPT I need to call the office and they will set up an appointment for me 6-8 weeks from that time. There are 5 doctors in the practice and once I get pregnant they will take turns doing my appointments. That way when I deliver I will know all the doctors. She said it is good I already started taking pre-natal vitamins. She also suggested if I haven't been vaccinated for whooping cough that I do so. My husband too. So I have to ask my mom if I had the shot when I was little. I think thats it.

Doesn't matter if you had the shot when you are little or not. They have found that it only lasts for about 10 years now.  It is now included in the tetanus vaccine. I would check with your regular dr. and find out if the last tetanus you had included it.

  • A little late to the party on this.  I couldn't remember when my last tetanus shot was so I got it last November at my annual check up.  I told my doctor then that we'd be starting to try within the next year and she recommended getting it right away as it also included the whooping cough part.  That was also the first time I got the flu shot.
