Hi Ladies!
I was just wondering if you'd like to share your tips, advice, etc. on losing weight, getting healthy. I say all the time I'm going to try to lose weight & I always end up giving up & losing motivation not too far into trying. I actually started last week trying to just drink water. Cutting out pop, sweet tea, etc. & I've been doing pretty good. Pop isn't so much the hard part, it's more the sweet tea part, I love it.
I want to lose weight for several reasons. Obviously to look/feel better, be healthier, for my husband, and two other important reasons. I have high blood pressure & I take medicine for it. I know if I lost just a little bit of weight I would be able to get off of my blood pressure medicine. So that is one of the important reasons. The other is, we are starting to talk about trying for a baby!
I definitely have got to get off my medicine before that happens, so I think this could be my big motivation. I also don't want to be big & pregnant. Nothing against that or anything cause I have always been big, I just don't want to put any complications on myself or a baby.
In reality, I'd love to lose 65 pounds. I know it's very well do-able but if I could just lose part of that, I'd be happy! Sorry this turned into a big long story! Anyways, if you'd love to share with me any exercising or food tips, advice, etc. I would really appreciate it!
I keep telling myself I can do this!
Thanks ladies!!
Re: I need to lose weight ..
For me the key to losing weight is mostly what I eat, and also exercising. If I want to lose weight I try to cut out 99% of sweets, and eat a diet that consists mostly of veggies, fruits, and proteins. I try to never get overly hungry and snack on healthy things like veggies or nuts or a piece of fruit throughout the day. If I get too hungry I end up eating unhealthy. Exercising as often as possible also helps. I know in my head that this is what works for me, but putting it into practice and maintaining it is the hard part!! I have found in the past that once I get into the groove of eating right and exercising, I feel soooo much better and dont' even crave sweets after a while. Oh, also-I try to only drink water and one cup of coffee a day. I also have an occasional beer or glass of wine with dinner but try to not over-do it with alcohol.
Good luck and how exciting about TTC!
I did weight watchers before the wedding and it taught me a lot of great healthy habits that stuck with me. Sometimes just taking that one month to pay for it (and they have a deal so you can do 1 month for cheap) can be really useful!
The other time I was able to successfully lose/not gain weight is when I was on the GD diet during my pregnancy. (Not the best time to not gain weight, but I digress). Watching sugards & carbs, eating every 3 hours and having lots of protein. lean meat and HEALTHY snacks every 3 hours kept my metabolism up and weight down (unfortuantely in that situation).
I also did Weight Watchers before my wedding. My dress fit exactly and I didn't want to gain and I knew if I lost some pounds the dress would look even better When I tracked my diet and exercise and went to meetings I had success. It does get expensive though.
Within the last year I have had success losing weight using the My Fitness Pal app. It is free and DH did it too. It is easy to use and lets you put in your goals, calories, and exercise. It is free too. When I use it consistently and track calories, I lose weight. Let me know if you want to know more about it.
A friend introduced me to Minute Maid Light Lemonade which is only 15 calories a serving. I really like it and I usually don't like the lighter food or drinks. I don't like tea and rarely drink soda though.
Good luck on your journey. I also need to get back into eating right and exercising. I have slacked the last five weeks. Maybe we can have weekly check ins on here.
Thanks ladies!!
I'd love to do a weekly weigh/check in!
