So my girls turn 2 & 4 next month?. I need birthday & Christmas gift ideas! What?s everyone getting their kids this year?
So far they?re getting new Ugg?s (from us), winter coats (from the IL?s). SIL asked to buy Sophia a dollhouse & Gabriella the PBK chair. I don?t know what to tell my mom for bdays and anyone for Christmas. We want to limit too many large gifts b/c of our upcoming move. No one wants to buy gift cards and we already have museum/zoo memberships.
Last night Sophia asked for Caroline, the new American Girl doll?. and although I?d typically buy whatever main gift she really wants, I know in my heart she?ll just end up with a million knots in her long hair & crayon all over her face.
Re: It's that time of year again (kids gift ideas!!)
DD is going to get some more games for her innotab or v. reader. Fisher Price Little People Camping Set and SUV. Probably a barbie house and barbies. National Geographic animal encyclopedia (the kid is an animal nut); other books. A few random baby dolls and possibly a doll cradle. Art/craft supplies.
DS is getting a ride on toy; FP laugh and learn mailbox, FP little people construction vehicles (I love the FP little people stuff because they both like them and will play together and I don't have to worry about littleparts for Nolan). New bath toys (these are cool). Woden blocks; books.
I'm thinking of getting them each a pottery barn chair. My parents are getting Brinley a new comforter set for her new room (we're hopefully moving in in Feb) and I'm still trying to come up with a "room" gift from them for Nolan to keep things consistant.
ETA: My parents are also getting Brinley a stable with horses and Nolan a FP workbench I think. And clothes--80% of their wardrobes come from my mom :-)
Oh, Sophia loves horses! Do you know what stable & horses she's getting?
I like the idea of decor for their new rooms!
When are you all moving? Maybe memberships to something down in the area you will be moving too (if it's early in the year)? Also, anything monogrammed with their name, art set, Innotab or similar game system?
We were just discussing this last night, too - DH mentioned that he has no idea what to get our oldest for Christmas. I told him that we should do an "experience" versus material gifts - leave those to the relatives to give! (I know he's asking for new LeapPad games and I would love to get him a nice, age-appropriate art kit since he loves to draw.) He's been asking to try hockey, and I think Karate might be another good activitiy for him, but with the baby coming, DH needs to be the one to take him to Saturday morning practices so he needs to be on board with it. I think this is the route we are going to go this year. Maybe a subscription to Highlights or Ranger Rick (he already gets ZooBooks).
For Conall, I have this on our list: http://www.amazon.com/MightyMind-Mighty-Mind-Magnetic/dp/B000RGXEB4 and maybe something music-related since he's constantly singing and dragging out his little portable CD player.
I really want to try to stay away from a lot of toys - they already have quite a bit and they tend to recycle the same toys when they are home playing with them. We also just got them new bunk beds and comforters for their room in August, so that rules that out. I just don't have a ton of ideas this year!
My three sons!
My mom saw it in a catalog they got in the mail and said it had Brinley written all over it. She can't remember the name, but will look when she gets home.
It was in toys to grow on. they have a website:
