Y'ALL.

So. I decided to pamper myself before our trip with a hair cut and highlight. My stylist has been out on disability all year do I had to go somewhere new. Anxiety ensues.

So I go this morning. She got my blonde color perfect and the cut dead on. HOWEVER. I told her I wanted some funky color lowlights placed randomly, just something I could have fun with. I said I was thinking of a copper or red color but was open to suggestions. She suggested a cooler color and pointed out some purples which I knew would look ok, but it's just not my color. So she said we would do that last anyway and decide later.

I was so confident. She started talking about eating to do a wine color while she was cutting and it sounded good. My mind went to deep red. So the color and the cut are freaking perfect. She asks if I still want to do the "burgundy". I say yes. he applies the lowlight color and we wait.

She washes it out, we go back to the chair. I look in the mirror. That *** is PURPLE.  No wine, no burgundy. My hair is platinum and purple.

I paid and went immediately to a bar.

Re: Y'ALL.

  • Oh no.  For some reason it remind me of bride wars.  "IT'S BLUE!  BLUE!"  I was going to ask if you could go back so she could fix it for free, but you probably don't want to go back to her!  It's hard to trust new people with your hair!

  • Oh no! I'm sure it's not as bad as you think and hopefully it will wash out into the color that you actually wanted. Good luck with your hair!

  • So I had lunch and then went to do some clothes shopping to see if I would get used to it, which happens most of the time with bad haircuts. Not true of purple hair though.

A girl actually stopped me in Macy's to say she liked it, but as I was walking by a group of stylists on break in front of the mall salon, I saw them literally stop their conversation and look at me. Maybe it was good and maybe it was bad, but I didn't feel good. I was completely insecure the rest of the time.

    Fine, so I'm vain, whatever.

I bit the bullet and called the salon and was lucky enough to get an appointment squeezed in fit tomorrow afternoon. I feel really bad because everything else she did was amazing. We had a pretty bad miscommunication so it was partly my fault, and I fully expect to pay for the fix, I'm just glad she got me in.

  • Oh my! That's great you are getting it fixed. I'd love to see how it turns out. It sounds nice.

Also, what do ya'll think of the new ombre color job everyone seems to be getting now?

  • I honestly wouldn't have paid and would have made them re-do it for free.

  • Yeah, I really want a picture!

  • Picture Please?

  • The way that people think of and name colors can be so different. I had a similar thing happen to me & ended up with purple lowlights back in March. My hair isn't as light as yours and it was still very long at the time, so it wasn't as big of a big deal. But I was sure to bring pictures every time after that!

  • Well I went in this afternoon and she fixed it, took less than an hour. Funny thing is, I got sooo many compliments at work today. The color was really pretty, I'm just not at all a purple person and really was envisioning something else.

She wasn't apologetic or overly nice to make up for it. I get that these things happen, I don't feel there's really any reason to freak out over it and be nasty or make complaints. These kinds of things happen in creative situations. She didn't charge me to fix it, which I was actually surprised about.I did receive what I paid for originally, so I don't think it would be fair to demand a discount.

I'll try to attach the lovely self photos.....

  • Ooooo! I'm so jealous - I could never pull anything like that off!

I like the 'before' okay, but the 'after' looks amazing. Wow!!

Also love the cut!! Glad she fixed it for you.

  • Love the after!!!!  The purple looks good - but it's definately purple!  So if you're not a fan of purple I can definitely understand.

  • Omg, it's purple. I believed you when you said it was but you would have to love purple (and want funky hair) to rock that. Love how your hair turned out in the end. Very Nice!
  • Very cute! It was purple but looks like you pulled it off really well!
