So I have come down with a pretty nasty flu the last couple days and am scheduled for my first 'real' (read not orientation/traning) shift tomorrow (sunday). I was hoping I would be better enough to go even if I wasn't 100%.
Well it only seems to be getting worse not better and I can hardly get off the couch..let alone a shift thats walking and muiltitasking and dealing with needy people the whole 8 hours, and being new so being slower at knowing thier system anyways.
I emailed my supervisor about an hour ago (4:30 my time) and told him I don't think I can make it...however I have no idea if he even checks his email on weekends and I tried to call the shelter (he's not on but I thought I could at least let people there know) but it keeps going to the supervisors voicemail.
I did ask him to answer me in the email so I know if he got it...but if it were you, and he doesnt answer by tomorrow, what would you do? Would you go in feeling like **** and try and pull it off? Or not go since the email was sent, and sent in enough time that if he had checked it he could have got it covered.
(also I am the 3rd staff on tomorrow, so its not like things will fall apart if I am not there).
Re: What would you do.
I'd drag my half dead self in as it was my first day, but would secretly hope that they would send me home fearing I would infect the clients.
Feel better sweets, and good luck.
I am also a little late on this one, but I agree with PPs, I would go in, hopefully you will get sent home.
When I interend as a school counselor, I would email my supervisor who was also my professor if I was sick. She told me to email her in case I was sick because she never answers her phone. But when I did email her saying I was sick she never responded... so I often wondered if she got my emails.
Some people just don't feel the need to respond to emails like that I guess. But sometimes it's nice to know they at least got it.
Let us know what happened, and I hope you feel better!
This!
Hope you feel better.
