1 year old photos, part 2

I posted before about getting 1 year pics/family pics done this year.  When I inquired about pricing, the sitting fee was a very reasonable $200 but for a disc of high-res photos, the photog wants $995!

Anyone else that had photos done of their family, did you get a disc of high-res photos and did they cost that much?

Re: 1 year old photos, part 2

  • We haven't done a portrait session yet, but I have info from Sarah Schulte because she donated a session for the charity event I'm working on:

    2 hour portrait session

Approximately 40 retouched images in a web gallergy

Digital files of all edited images and the rights to reproduce

    $450

  • I think we pay like 200 for pictures and we get ten on a high res disc. But we can only get them at her studio or Franklin square for that price.
  • $375 for on location one hour shoot, online gallery plus Hi-res CD with images.

We just had our session this past Sunday at Core Creek Park.  She's wonderfully patient.

  • See new photo below. We didn't do family pics but instead a cake smash.

I think she charges $285 for all images on a flash. Not sure about the sitting fee for a family shoot.

ETA: I will gladly AW the cake smash photos.

  • The girl we've used looks like she's $175 and that includes images on a disk...although I think she said she might just start emailing the files.

She takes great pictures, but sometimes can be a bit slow on the business side.

Some photographers get really stingy with their files because they want to make profit off you buying expensive prints from them.  It's annoying.  We are dealing with that right now for some larger il family pictures we had done.  Someone insisted on a particular photographer because she had a cheap session fee...well everything is a la carte for her and I just wrote a check for $140 for like 5 pictures to be printed.  Ridiculous.

  • The guy I know is $275, up to 4 outfit changes, 2.5 hours, with DVD of hi-res images.  Unless his rates have went up.. not sure.

  • We used Ericha farrington and her prices are super reasonable. I think it was less than $200 for the session and a disk of all the photos taken. Prints are purchased separately but you don't have to buy any.

  • I used and LOVE Caitlin Domanico. If you like her work and go with her, you can say that I recommended her to you and you'll get $50 off your package. I can't remember what I paid because it was back in May but I think with the $50 off it would put you in the $350 range for the session as well as DVD with all images.

She's a special ed teacher by day and because of that, she has such patience with the kids during the shoot. She's so sweet and is always full of great ideas. I highly recommend her.
