So, I did go on Saturday to see my grandma... and it was one of the hardest things i've ever done. This may sound... awkward? But it made me appreciate the fact that my dad didn't suffer at all even more. He had a heart attack and passed out and didn't feel any pain at all.
My grandma on the other hand, is getting morphine every few hours, and still has to stop talking because she gets what I assume are "twinges" of pain. She was so little and frail...
On the other hand, she was SO happy to see me
I surprised her, she didn't know I was coming, and she was really happy I was there. She pulled out a few awesome grandma lines/mannerisms... i'd like to share with you ladies just because they were great memories from the day...
1. Her niece and sister in law were there, this niece my dad always referred to as his "favorite" cousin.. she's a rather annoying lady, and after they left grandma looks at me and goes "I'd like to give her one of these *makes a punching motion* right in the nose"
2. She looks at me and goes "I guess I've quit smoking" i asked her how that was going and she holds out her hand and shakes it rather exagerratedly (she's got the shakes as it is.. but this was like.. i'm going to shake to be funny) and goes... it's going...
3. Asked me if I wanted to go for a walk down the hall, I said absolutely, so off we went, we passed a male nurse sitting on a chair and she looks at me and *whispers* "i'd like to pinch his bum" lol
AND last but note least:
4. She asked me to push the call button so the nurses could come help her back into bed, so I did, they come in and go "do you need to pee" grandma says no, so the nurse gets her back into bed, she lays down, looks at the nurse and goes "i have to pee". The nurse laughs and goes "you're kidding right?" grandma goes.. "no... i'm really sorry.. i have to go" lol so UP she gets and off to the bathroom they go.
I kind of hope she goes quickly, seeing her in that much pain is really hard and I don't want her to suffer for long...
I'm happy I went to see her though, and that it made her so happy.
