TMI Need Period Relief

I remember my first PP period with DD was awful, but then they got progressively better.  This time around they're progressively getting worse.  Heavier, longer, closer together.  My moods are all over the place, I feel anxious and unsettled.  Yesterday I demolished everything in the house resembling chocolate and agreed to do bedtime by myself so DH could go to the store and get me chocolate and diet dr. pepper.Embarrassed

Physically I feel light-headed and sick to my stomach. I have a pounding headache. I made an appointment with my doctor for next week, but does anyone have any tips on what I can do in the meantime to get me through.  The nurse at my OBGYN's office suggested ibuprophen.  Ibuprophen is no match.

  • My post kids periods are awful (even 2 years later).  I've talked to the doc about it but she kind of brushed it off.  I get fatigued like nobody's business and like you, get monster cravings among other things.  Working out helps with the mood but I only get to do that once a week.

  • I have really long cycles, so when I do get my period, they are extremely heavy and long (9+ days).  Taking Alleve is the only thing that manages it for me..it takes it down to a normal flow and a 5-7 day cycle.

As for the other stuff, I usually try to just take 15 minutes to myself to kind of meditate/nap, take a walk, have a glass of wine.  It's hit or miss, sometimes there's just really no controlling my emotions and crankiness!
