what are YOU asking for this year? DH has started hounding me for a list and I have exactly 2 things on it. So I need some inspiration:)
Re: Speaking of gifts...
2 nailpolishes: Essie Limoscene and OPI's I'm not really a waitress
Gift cards: starbucks, Gap, Qdoba, Panera
my parents are getting us a zoo membership, my IL's are getting us a children's museum membership
This 3 bin laundry sorter for my laundry room (we have a chute, so if I don't do all of the clothes at once, I have to shove them back up, it's a PITA):

I never thought I would have wanted a kindle until I received it as a gift...now I can't go back! My mom had purchased a hard back of "gone girl" and I was on the library waitlist for it for a long time, so I caved & read the hardback and let me tell you, I am spoiled rotten with the kindle! My back seriously hurt from lugging the damn thing around in my bag. And I was all, "ugh, I have to lift my hand to turn pages as opposed to just pressing my thumb down??" It hard. Really, really hard.

I totally agree with Emmy. I thought there was no way I'd love it...til I got one. I'm reading an actual book right now and feel like it's so cumbersome! I love that my kindle fits in my purse and that I ALWAYS have another book waiting in case I finish one:) If you get one, I highly recommend getting a cover with it, too.
I know, I know...this is what everyone says. However, a kindle doesn't seem conducive to how I read. I like the whole experience...I read the cover and sometimes I re-read the cover because maybe it doesn't seem like it's about what I thought it was about. I read the author notes at the back. (All while I"m reading the book, I just flip to it) AND there are many, many times that I read the end. Like I just HAVE to know what happens before I can happily finish the book. And in a real book, all I have to do is put my finger in the page that I am on...flip to the back...read a paragraph or two and voila. Cheating seems harder on a kindle. I also like to go to the library and browse and pick out books - picking title out online doesn't always help you to find a good book that you wouldn't normally read. (Like the cover calls to me or something).
I'm sure it would be fine for me...but I know I'd miss the whole book experience. So I think I want one more because everyone else has one. And also, Gwen, I'm never without another book to read. I get all twitchy if I only have one extra. HA! I have a giant stash of paperbacks in my closet just so I'm never without something to read.
ditto, ditto, ditto! I resisted the Nook for a long time - I now have had one for almost 2 years and I can't imagine reading without it - especially traveling. No more suitcase full of books and shuffling crap around at the USAirways counter because it weighs 60 pounds.
last night i was reading a library book (the ebook wasn't available) and my husband jokingly said "What is that?!" lol.
balbacm-When I read an actual book my husband asked me why I have gone "analog"
I don't have too many ideas this year, hopefully I come up with some more!
Gift Cards - iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Spa
iPod Nano
Pandora charm
Regular & workout clothes
I have to ditto the others, Amber! I have a nook color, and I was so resistant, but now I have to say that I really hate reading an actual book. With the nook (I'm sure the kindle is similar) there are options to get the full experience that you like (skipping to the end of the book, etc.). I know some libraries allow you to check out an eReader, maybe you can try it out first!
ditto all of what kris said! I'm on my 2nd nook (upgraded for glow light).
I hate reading real books now! The nook is just so convenient and easier. I also love my cover that has an easle kickstand so I don't even have to hold it. I used to get annoyed reading regular books in bed but so much better with ereader! I seriously LOVE ereaders. I can not go back to regular books anymore!
i thought I'd miss the experiences too. I used to love just going to the book store and browsing. But the good aspects of the ereader totally make it worth it. You can still go browse at the library or bookstore. And with nook you can go to B&N and use their wifi and I think you can read some books right there on it.
You can read the cover and authors notes and flip to the end easily. You definitely wouldn't miss out on that.
I admit that I rarely go to a bookstore anymore. And while I used to love it I don't really mecessarily miss it. Now I love browsing online and being able to download a book the second I want it rather than having to wait till I can get to a store. My library also has ebooks so I feel like I utilize my library more now. I hated getting books out of the library since they are generally hardcover (which I hate) and I would always return them horribly late!
And its not an all or nothing thing. Some people use both just as much. I am pretty much all ebooks but I know people who just use them when it's convenient or if the ebook is cheaper, etc but still get real books a lot too
Sheesh - no joke!
LOL, I was just getting ready to post to you, Amber, saying sorry this turned into a peer pressure post!
also, I feel like amazon and b&n should be paying us royalties to do all of this free advertising for them!

Ha! Sorry we turned it into ereader love! But that would be my biggest gift suggestion!
Sorry i didn't post about what's on my gift list but we are going on a big vacation in Feb so we really aren't doing gifts this year. Vacation is our gift. I like the "experience" type gifts a lot lately!
A baby!
I really would like a nice set of every day dishes, now that I saw what my cousin registered for for her wedding. LOL I've never owned a complete set!
And also a birthstone for the new one for my mother's necklace.
But, that's all I can come up with!
My three sons!
this is what we normally do too. going to Puerto Rico for New Year's.
