What holiday food are you most looking forward to?

I can't wait to eat stuffing and fried turkey.  My aunt also makes this strawberry/pretzel/cream dessert that is amazing.  And pumpkin pie...yum.

Any recipes you'd like to share?  I was thinking about making something holidayish this weekend since it's going to be cooler and I don't feel like waiting another month. :)

  • I'm looking forward to dressing, potatoes, and desserts----mostly better than sex cake (which I usually make) and my mom's crumbly apple pie.  Mmmmm.

We're carving pumpkins with some of my family Sunday and I'm taking puppy chow.  It's going to be awesome.

I LOVE better than sex cake.  One of my top desserts for sure.

  • Fried turkey! I missed it last year. My mom also makes a wonderful pecan pie and chicks and dumplings. I am looking forward to pretty much all of the food that I am going to eat.

  • My mom's parmesan mashed potatoes. It's an incredible dish.

I'm also a huge fan of ham. I don't normally eat the turkey until my mom turns it into turkey salad. :)

  • ALL OF THE FOOD. Dieting sucks.

I haven't indulged in all of the pumpkin goodies because of the aforementioned diet, but I can't wait for pumpkin everything, peppermint hot chocolate, jalape?o poppers, deviled eggs, turkey, apple pie, apple cider, pumpkin scones, pumpikin brownies, cake balls, mmmmm.

  • Here is an awesome trifle that I make every year. Gringerbread pumpkin trifle.

    Ingredients

    • 2 (14-ounce) packages gingerbread mix
    • 1 (5.1-ounce) box cook-and-serve vanilla pudding mix
    • 1 (30-ounce) can pumpkin pie filling
    • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/3 teaspoon ground cardamom or cinnamon
    • 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping
    • 1/2 cup gingersnaps, optional

    Directions

Bake the gingerbread according to the package directions; cool completely. Meanwhile, prepare the pudding and set aside to cool. Stir the pumpkin pie filling, sugar, and cardamom into the pudding. Crumble 1 batch of gingerbread into the bottom of a large, pretty bowl. Pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture over the gingerbread, then add a layer of whipped topping. Repeat with the remaining gingerbread, pudding, and whipped topping. Sprinkle of the top with crushed gingersnaps, if desired. Refrigerate overnight. Trifle can be layered in a punch bowl.

I also make my own whipped cream. 1 cup of heavy whipping cream mix with 1/4 cup of sugar. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of vanila. I have to double it for this recipe though.
