speaking of presents, am i insane?

I've signed the kids up for gymnastics and they love it.

I was talking to some of the parents in Michael's class, and several have this

His teacher recommended it as well.

So, will I regret the feats my kids may perform on this contraption?

Re: speaking of presents, am i insane?

  • I can't speak about your sanity, but I will tell you that we were at a friend's house a year ago or so and Jake LOVED that thing.  so i'm sure they would get a lot of use out of it!

  • I am for some reason trampoline paranoid, and I would be concerned over the injuries that could happen in using that (and teeth bashing against the bar).  However the couch jumping stage EJ went through didn't seem to phase me as much. Go figure!
  • Emmy, I don't want more toys in the house, and poor Michael gets so many hand me downs, that at least this is something for him that I think he'd like. I have so many problems thinking of things for him.

  • Amanda, my kids haven't done much couch jumping, but Jackson's going crazy with jumping on his bed right now. I keep thinking he's going to collapse the boards holding his bed up.

  • Dh got dd a trampoline for Christmas 2 Christmases ago. It's in our basement and there's been no issue. We take it outside occassionally but mainly stays inside. Honestly the pic you showed that one looks pretty small so I wouldn't worry. Do you know the dimensions?

    this is ours

it says its 48 inches. Definitely bigger than I expected but better in the long run for more use.

A full size trampoline I would maybe have some hesitation but the small ones don't phase me. Dd is a daredevil and she hasn't managed to hurt herself in 2 years so far

ETA: I saw you linked it...it's 36 inches so its smaller than ours. So I personally would not worry about it! Ours is bigger and gives her more space to do crazy things but she is pretty good with it.

Eleni threw couch pillows into a pile on the floor and launched herself into the pile while I cooked dinner for about a year. It is amazing she didn't hurt herself.

I feel your pain on that one!!

  • They have something similar in the indoor play area at Will's preschool. I've witnessed a lot of kids playing on it when I go pick him up. It's hard to go too crazy on it because they are holding on to the bar. Definitely safer than a regular trampoline.

i will caution that the bar is probably the biggest issue we have with ours. Dd the daredevil likes to try to hang from it and swing. And the weight can cause the trampoline to fall forward. That's really the only issue we've had and we just tell her to be careful. And again no injuries so far (which with dd that really says something!)

That would be my concern that they would use the bar and jump forward & the thing would toppel.  That being said a friend had one & Keira loved it.  No idea where I would put it though.

We have this one. The girls love it and I think it's a good way to get out alittle energy when they can't be outside! Not much room to do the crazy stuff they can do on a big one! I think your gymnast boys will love it!!

  • my cousin bought her son a mini version of a "real" trampoline. blue and complete with the netting.  It is a little bigger around than this and there is no handle...

but he was very energetic and would start getting crazy especially in the winter so they would sent him to jump and it helped alot with everyone stress level.

She has 3 kids now and at parties eveyone loves using it (one at a time)

    its like this.
