Ideas for First Birthday Parties in Westchester or Rockland?

Any ideas for venues for children's first birthdays, and how much each one might cost?  The kids invited will be from ages 1 - 5, and we'll have their parents there, too.  About 15 adults and 10 children.  TIA!

Re: Ideas for First Birthday Parties in Westchester or Rockland?

  • we've only done parties at home - my house, my parents' house or my in-laws' house.

my parents have a larger home than me and could accomodate my younger one's indoor first bday - we hired The Simon Show and he was great!

my inlaws have a pool so we used that for my older one's first summer bday. the pool was the entertainment.

for both first bdays, i catered 90% of the food from Munnos in Pearl River. Hired a server thru them for the the pool party one too. i add chips and dips and salad and desserts myself.

for my older one - the rest of her parties have been in our backyard - pizza and water stuff outdoors. this year, i skipped meal time and had the party from 2-4:30 and hired a soft serve ice cream truck in lieu of cake. huge hit - rose's soft serve. i also had snacks, fruit and veggie platters out the whole time.

we own one of those $300 bounce houses - it makes an appearance at nearly every party and at playdates too. a great investment for us so far.

  • Thank you!  My daughter's b-day is in December, which stinks because outdoor parties aren't an option.  Hopefully if we have a second he/she will be born on a warm month!  I will check out The Simon Show.
  • Idk where you live but you could look into local fire houses, VMA buildings, community centers, etc. if you live in Clarkstown you can rent out a room In the community center for approx $200 for 3 hours. Let me know if u would like more info

  • Thanks!  I do live in Clarkstown (New City).  Are rooms in the community center fairly nice?  How would I go about looking at them?  Is there a web page with info?  Also, do you know of any local entertainment that we could get to come to the center?  Thanks so much!

  • There is a community center on Zukor Rd in new city, Street Community Center The room is an auditorium prob 150 capacity.  If you go to the location you can get more info and see it. Approx $200 for 3 hours. Their number is 845-634-3039

  • Thank you so much!
  • We just had Joe's first bday party at La Terraza, and everything went smoothy. Catering prices are on the website. We did the $25++ option and added an extra appetizer. The food was really good and the management there runs things like a machine.  We brought in a clown for balloons and face painting since we had so many young kids there- it was a hit
