You have done way more research on the basal thermometers than I have and I have a question about the brands. I can't find and I can't for the life of me remember which brand they say NOT to get. Is it the Walgreens brand or the Walmart brand?
I am planning to pick one up soon and wanted to make sure I didn't get the wrong one!

I'm also jumping in uninvited, but I got mine from Target, and it came with 6 months of charts, I believe. But I've been using Fertility Friend (and it's app) instead.
Although, the one I have isn't backlit.. It does save the last temp, so I can just fall back asleep, and record it later, but I still sort of wish it was backlit!
After 2 years of TTC, lots of tests, and a Hysteroscopy/Laparoscopy to remove several polyps,

Everyone pretty much covered it, I was going to suggest the Mabis one because it's easy to get and inexpensive.
I have the Walgreens one (before I knew any better) and it does seem to favor certain temperatures, but it gave me a clear thermal shift, so it gets the job done. When temping you're not necessarily looking for specific temps as much as you are looking at the pattern of your temps. I'm past O now, so if you want to check out my chart in my siggy you can see the pattern & thermal shift.
For anyone charting I would recommend getting on FertilityFriend.com they have an app and that's what I use to update my temps every morning. Plus, you can track all sorts of things! And, FF will estimate when you ovulate for you, because sometimes it can be pretty tricky to figure out on your own.
Good luck!
