Britax Convertible Car Seats

So I've read a lot of recommendations on this site and others about Britax car seats. The most commonly sited reason for recommendation is ease of installation/removal. Are there any other reasons you would recommend a Britax over other models? I don't see much of a need nor frequency for taking the car seat out of my car.

If you've been happy with an alternative brand of car seat, can you share your rec?

TIA!

Re: Britax Convertible Car Seats

  • We have Evenflo Triumph's in both cars and have been really pleased with them. Installation was really simple (we had a Cosco Scenera in my car initially that we had a ton of problems installing - we could never get it secured tightly). We like that it has tension rods that allow us to very easily loosen/tighten the straps every time we get DD out.

  • We have a simular model as Gwen posted above and like it way more than the Britax in DH car that I got for a good deal in discontined color. Not sure why but I do. :P She tends to fall asleep in her seat and just seems more comfortable in the Evenflo one. Just my 2 cents.
  • We have several different evenflo seats and like them all

    We just bought these:

This one isn't as padded, but I feel like it's easier to get the kids in and out of, but it also doesn't convert to a booster like the symphony ones.

  • Another rec for Evenflo triumph. I love the ease of tightening the straps. We rarely take it in and out of our cars but when dh does it seems pretty quick.

I have only tried out one other seat Cosco scenera which I hated. Just really hard to adjust straps.

  • The britax seats were rated very well in the baby bargains book and on the safety lists when we bought one for our oldest but that was almost 3 years ago.  We have 2 britax roundabouts in the car and are happy with both of them.

  • We have 3 Britax (2 Marathon, 1 Roundabout) and 1 Evenflo Triumph.  Both Marathons are in my car, and I love them - I mostly chose them because of the ratings.  I am not a fan of the Evenflo because we do extended rear facing and it was/is pretty difficult to continue rear facing the bigger both boys got (this may have been due to the back seat of DH's car or the fact that I don't use that car seat often and am just not used to it).  A lot of people are happy with the Evenflo's though, so I don't think you can go wrong (we bought it based on recommendation, it's just not my personal preference).
  • We also have all Evenflo seats.  (We're on to our 2nd set because even though Noah was out of his by the time Brody needed them...they expired).
  • we have a couple Britax convertibles, and I was quite happy with both of them.  EJ still rides in the one in my car, since she has not outgrown it yet.  The one in K's car we switched out with a Graco 3in1 turbo booster because I got it on a good sale last winter. when she out grows the carseat in my car I will either get a booster or high back booster for her.  Anyway, the Britax, she is still comfortable in it. So that means she has been in it for 4 years now, probably a bit longer than that.  it is easy to take in and out. Much more so than the graco. We tend to remove it when my parents take her so they have a seat for her.  But now they just have the second Britax...

But between the two brands, I like the Britax better. Since she has used them for so long I am happy that I spent the money.

This is the situation we're going to be in soon (I think our Evenflos expire in January or February).  I'm happy with them and I think they're really easy to use/tighten (more so than the Graco that we now have for Jake), but the evenflos are SO wide.  That's my only complaint, and they especially seem that way when RF'ing (and Liam will continue to RF past January, so it will be a factor for at least a few months).  We never take them in & out, so I can't really comment on ease of installation, aside from the initial time of having to do it

  • Thanks everyone! Gabriel is still in his infant seat but I know in a matter of weeks we're going to need to upgrade. I appreciate your comments!
  • I chose Britax because of the option to tether rear-facing.  The one difference I've noticed between Britax and Evenflo is that the Evenflo straps that go across the leg don't go all the way to the seat edges.  It doesn't seem as comfortable to me.

  • Our Britax seems to just be made nicer. You can tell that there's more padding and it seems to be designed better than the comparable Evenflo Triumph. When Wes falls asleep in the Britax, his head just tilts. In the Evenflo he collapses forward onto his lap. The straps also dont' seem to stay in place as well, which worries me.
