Comforter Question

So I'm shopping for a new comforter. DH hates down, so that's out. I'd love something that is machine washable, but I can't seem to find any that I like. I seem to like the ones that are only dry clean.

Tell me about your comforter. Is it machine washable or dry clean? Where did you buy it?

I think I like this one

Re: Comforter Question

  • I have a down comforter so i'm not a ton of help.

I like the one you posted although it looks more formal than what I would imagine for you

  • I got a comforter for the Full while I was living at home, just when I moved I wanted another color scheme so I just got the duvet cover set.  Then I'd just wash the duvet and it worked great.

Then we got the king, so I found this crazy cheap 20 pc set at Kohl's.  It was awesome until I had to wash the comforter due to Hunter sleeping on the bed... and then it got funky.

Now we pick up an alternative down comforter/duvet cover on Saturday so I can go back to just washing the duvet....

    Why is H agaisnt Down?

I love the ease of throwing a duvet cover into the wash

  • Andrea imagines you in bed! Wink

  • (Guess I should address the actual topic...)

I have been in the market for one I like for a while and I think I've come to the conclusion that I probably need to switch to a duvet.  There aren't a lot of comforters out there that speak to me aesthetically AND are machine washable.

The thing that kills me is many duvet covers are just as expensive as comforters.  How does that make any sense?

  • I agree, Janet. I wish DH would get over it and go with a duvet- he just hates them for some reason. I am afraid I'm going to have to go with a dry clean only one Crying
  • I don't have a true comforter, I prefer quilts and then I just put another blanket under it in the winter.
