Which name combo do you like? Last name starts with "Ca" with a hard "c" sound.

Re: name poll for sugfrejaz
Whee! 100%!
Seriously, Dylan Edward flows off the tongue better. I am partial to middle names that start with vowels, myself. Especially when the first and last name have hard consonants.
Mrs.Brittany - I like your analysis!!!! Our last name BLOWS and even if you like a first name often times to sucks with our last name. So now I have this whole mental list of rules for what makes a good full name, lol. I like #2 the best for other reasons but I want to make sure it sounds the best of the three so I don't feel guilty ruling out the other two (all family names)
oh and thanks lilm!!!
Yay! I'm glad my weird naming obsession is helpful to someone.
For someone who's not having kids, I have thought a LOT about names.
My last name is 3 syllables ending in "sen," so when we were still considering kids, I was obsessed with 3-or-more syllable names. And for a girl, it had to end in "a." Amanda, Vanessa, Elena, Victoria, etc. And with 3 syllables for the first and last name, the middle name had to be one syllable.
Man, you'd think I had BOTB with that kind of thought process! I guess I'll save it for any future pets I have. So when some proud mommy tells me her daughter's name, I can say, "I have a dog named Vanessa!"
This is my revenge for elementary school, btw. "Brittany" is unusual for someone my age, so all I heard as a kid was, "what an unusual name for a person; we had a spaniel named Brittany!"
my read shelf:
lol. Dh sent me some names earlier today and one was Lincoln and I told him that if we get a dog one day we can name the dog Lincoln instead.
My mom was really into "Aurora" but luckily she named her plant that before we came along (this plant is older than me) !
My "rules" for boys names aren't as severe as for girls names. This is mostly because as a Jennifer i'm anti "nicknaming down" a name - Jenny, Billy, Tommy, etc. So I liked all these M names and then I realized that those shortened would be men's named: Melissa = Mel, Malorie = Mal, or like Christy = Chris. So then I got into 3 syllable names that don't seem like long names, Alana, for example.
I like nicknames from the middle of the name. Lissa for Melissa. I know an Evangelina that goes by Leena and I hope to someday have an Alexandra I will call Lexie. If Xander and Lex weren't associated with television, I'd go Alexander for a boy.
I voted for Dylan James b/c I love the name James and I think those two names work well. but Dylan Edward is good too. Dylan Gordon doesn't roll off the tongue that well.
And I hear you on the crappy last name. There's nothing that sounds good with my married last name.
Ha! I always planned to have a dog named Lincoln, but then I adopted a girl dog, and the name didn't work so well. So instead, I named her after one of my favorite wines.
First, I know your last name and don't think it sucks NEARLY as bad as mine.
Second, I voted Dylan James, but like Dylan Edward as well. Dylan Gordon is a no go for me.
